Yes, I sold them to boostfed above, as you can see from his post.

Granted ther are other reason's for the power boost besides the cams, but you added an awesome increase where 99% of evo owners visit with regards to revs!

I geeked together an overlay between the 2 cams on 93 octane, hopefully it's viewable.

What are you going to do with the 272's? Are they sold yet?
I would go that far.........yet. Clearly the guy did NOT just swap the 280s in favor of the 272s. He added a test pipe, IC pipe, Nisei intercooler, etc. To 272 owners, I would just go out and swap for the 280s becuase of these charts.

IMO-the only real "right" way to compare 2 different sets of cams, is to only swap out the cams, and have them at the same cam timing marks....

My activities were not intended to represent an A/B cam comparison, and they should not be construed as such. I am simply preparing this platform for a large turbo.

However, he who thinks that a larger IC, upper IC pipe, and crank pulley will make significant gains in power at this level is living in a dream.

i know your intentions werent to make this an a/b cam comparo. Is it not true that a test pipe will make 10-15whp? an bigger, more efficient intercooler core w/tuning make 5-7whp? Come on.....dont all of these start to add up at some point?

Furthermore, I am not suggesting that the 280s DONT make more power, as I am sure they do...just not ~20whp than the 272s.

Nice results and good luck w/the bigger turbo.

Actually if you set them to hit their power peak at a higher rpm, then 20whp is not unreasonable. Buschur certainly got that on his RS with the cams set to 0,0. Ted, however, didn't get more peak HP, he went for more torque, which he's got in abundance. But, yeah, on Ted's car it's definitely not an a/a comparison

FWIW, the test pipe is the most significant 'performance' item that we added. FWIW however, others with the same effective setup and tuning, with large IC, test pipe, and 272s are making on race what I'm seeing on 93 oct. As Ludikraut illustrated, consider the fact that they are running -3/-3 and I'm using +2/0, which only widens the gap.

This being said, while I wouldn't guarantee an additional 20whp with proper tuning, neither would I say that it is unreasonable simply because it's been demonstrated elsewhere.

Drew just because WRX's make no power with mods does not correlate to the Evo. I believe those Cams might be good for 20 + whp between 6000-7800 rpms and with Teds settings = more low end tq. It appears that from other tuners that these cams are proving to make good power and 20 peak whp seems to be pessimistic. But even if it is only 10 peaks whp the 30-40 whp gain in the upper rpms is more than worth it.
