Yes, it is bright. Since I just installed the kit it doesn't bother me, but I am sure that I am going to get sick of it soon. There really is no reason to see it except for the bling factor and the low level indicator.

My preference is to see the gauge personally, just so I can see the flow. It really doesn't matter though, you can hide it if you want to.
