100% Water, anyone making power?

I'm looking into the Aquamist HFS-5 and the biggest reason I haven't bought it yet is the whole idea of having to constantly refill your meth. I searched all last night during my graveyard shift and came up with nothing. Does anyone have any hard numbers using a water/meth kit using 75-100% water? And if so are you making good power? I'm not worried about the price of the kit. It's the inconvience of looking for and supplying my meth.

we did a test on my friends MR2 at his shop with running different mixes of meth and water vs whp. running 100 percent meth yeilded greatest hp which was to be expected but running some water would lower egts much more. only problem the more water ran it would start to loose hp. you can run 100 percent water but it wont be as great as meth. all you do is cool it down a lot more since the water evaporating takes away more heat than the meth does

I biggest concern is going to my tuner and getting the car tuned on meth and then I regret it everytime my meth runs out because now I have to drop my boost and run the car like that until I get some more. Do you remember some horsepower figures?

off top of my head no. but i mean it wasnt like a huge difference you will still make good power from having much cooler IAT. it will aid in the knock suppression there for giving you more room for boost and timing and leaner AFR. im actually deciding to run water in my setup at the moment since my 55 gallon drum ran out lol. running low boost sucks

Well it's good to know theres a decent shelf life on the meth if you can get away with having a 55gal barrel of it. I live in a condo so there's no way I can store anything big like that here. I do appreciate the help though. If you don't mind me asking, how many psi with water compared to meth?

Why not simply run a good brand of windshield washer fluid? Usually 33-36% meth. Available everywhere. $1.49 a gal. You need the ones that clearly state "Good to -32*F".

I've heard of some vendor stating that but never saw anyone post about it. Is it really that easy? I think Labonte Motorsports posted something about this. Just check the label to make sure theres no glycol propylen (antifreeze) and make sure it doesn't make bubbles when you shake it. Do you have any other tips beyond that?

So you can get good gains from windshield washer fluid? Anybody have any hard facts on this? 1.49 a gallon is super cheap. Sounds to good to be true.

i've run 100% water on stock turbo with my HFS-5. it made good power even with the halfassed tune i gave it. i ran it at 27psi with 93 oct, very agressive timing map, 12:1 afr, and no knock at all.

100% meth for me...tried water, like the meth. If it runs out, i lower boost to 23lbs..use my tephra map switching ics feature, and disable the meth. Good to go.

What was the difference in power between meth and water? These are the types of answers I'm looking for.

Jim,

I personally don't like washer fluid for the fact that when it evaporates it leaves solid residual everywhere. The nozzles like hago have built in metal mesh/filters and wahsre fluid would take no time to clog them.

Look at many older cars washer fluid containers, they are blusihs and corrored.. this washer fluid is soo mixed with colors and other aditives that in my opinion it ruins its purity.

Methanol and destilled water might be perhaps a great option.

my .2c
