our cars run similar to a vtec setup when we add cams.

since i only use race fuel, Al was able to give me alot of timing on the topend. even on your setup with 100 oct, your hp line should be pretty flat @ redline...

Wow, this thread has grown quick in 2 hours now. I do agree with Warrtalon, it will take a very good driver, and some power to achieve housedj's goal. I've seen a 93 Eagle Talon run 11.3 with a big 16g turbo down in Moroso back in Florida a few years ago. So maybe the Evo can. But it would be a challenge with Arizona elevation and heat. But there are also tricks up the sleeve...

THe only way I see you getting close to doing this is a ***** out tune on c-16. Maybe you let your turbo spike super high, I don't know. This certainly won't be easy, and chances are something might break along the way, especially with the boost levels you'd have to run to get there. That's my .02, anyways. But what do I know, I've never drag raced once.

This will definately be interesting and could very well be an astonishing feat if done. I think you may also want to consider shaving some weight off the car, and quite possibly the driver.

It can be done with relative ease, about six weeks after owning my EVO we were at the 2004 DSM shootout to race the Galant, well things didn't work out with that so we said the hell with it and give the EVO a shot. Car was not race prepped, just bolt on parts(BR Stage 4) and some C-16, stock clutch and tires, and it was hot as hell in Norwalk. First pass 12.0@120.76 on a bog launch. Went on to win the event with a best of 11.58@119.78 first time at the track with the car. Stocker with a 10.8 housing and the right mods can go well into the 10's if you are determined, but is a lot easier with a GT35R!

Just out of curiosity, which way would be less expensive to attain 11.49? A GT35 kit
or the the way that Najib wants to run it? I know the goal is to use the stock turbo so...

You guys are making me want to run sooner than I want to. I'd like to wait until I get my tranny re-done and install an LSD.
I recently had my car tuned at Mynes, VERY conservative (afr in 10's).
340HP/335lb/ft on 91 octane, stock 9.8 turbo with a Coolingmist WI kit.
Since the tune, I've pulled more fuel (I have SAFC II) and cranked boost to 30 tapering to 22, (Damn stock turbo), no knock.
My seat of pants says "noticabley" more HP/TQ.
I am also in pursuit of max power/quickness and speed on stock block/turbo (9.8).
Jason told me at the tune 340 was the most he'd tuned out of a 91 octane, stock turbo.
This makes me think I'm on the right track.
I Guess I should take it to the track and see what see'll do.
The tranny is gonna cost me though.
I CAN NOT speed shift 1st to 2nd without grinding.

bishiboy, i used Royal Purple Max Gear oil (75w90) for my T/C & rear diff. my grinding went away!!!!!! i also don't miss 2nd anymore over 6K rpm. it might save u in the longrun when you get the trans in. it is working very well for me in both EVO's

my project will not include the gas, but i may try some VP 109 unleaded. i believe the time (albeit difficult on unleaded as it is) will be an eye opener to run the time consistently & not just once. i currently use 101 Trick Unlimited unleaded & we will see how it holds up. it is working well so far & does allow for quite a bit of timing on the topend.

of course the real kick in the pants would be if i could also pull this off on 91 octane w/out any h20 or meth injection kits...
