Two and a half years later and what is the update? To my knowledge only 2 or 3 people in the high 11's on stock Evo 9 with stock turbo. The 11.49 on stock Evo 8 turbo is going to be a huge challenge, look how long has taken so far..

i ran 12.2 at 116mph (8 turbo) on e85 about a month ago.... whats the update on this??
(note: i still had stock 02 housing, stock ic, stock manifold)

 

I think this project is officially dead.

 

I told you guys it was going to be a challenge. Here in Tucson no one ever hit 11's on stock Evo8 turbo, the best is a 12.2.

One person ran a 11.997(Rob) but it was on a Evo 9 with stock turbo and this was in Tucson. As far is Phoenix I think maybe one person ran a high 11. I know faisal ran a high 11's but he had a evo 9 Turbo.

Just like I said years ago, it was going to be a huge challenge to do a 11.49 or better on a stock Evo 8 turbo, no wonder no one accomplished in AZ yet.

By the way, this myth is busted!!!

My friend just ran a 11.9 at 120mph stock 8 turbo... stock wastegate,stock 02....

 

still working at the project a lil. i'm still looking for another Quaife front LSD & built t-case so people can see how my car launched BEFORE it blew up on Pass Time. ya i could cheat like most evo guys did & run a 9 turbo but i would like to see what the stock 8 turbo will max out at. i'm sure i can break into 11's with cams. there r only a couple evos in the Phoenix area that broke 11 on a "stockish" turbo but still after over 5 years of owning an evo in az NO ONE has ran 11.49 on a legit NHRA track here & got kicked off.

what's still interesting after all these years is built evos in az have trouble running a fast time based on the power they produce in comparison to other major cities. what's even more sad is that they all are trying to accomplish drag times that have already been done years ago. the 11.49 project hasn't died but is merely on hold until i can gather the parts i need to make a good run at it

not to mention a stock turbo evo that runs 11.49 would be more responsive & more fun to drive than any other evo that could ever be built in the country's #2 Worst City To Live In-PHX. glad i'm moving soon...

Soon hell be getting a aftermarket wastegate nd 02 housing... keep in mind when he ran th 11.9 he did a 1.85 60ft... so theirs more room there for perfection...I will keep this thread updated

My car with a 2.3L and a twinscroll HTA 35R gets full boost (30 psi) just before 4k!... same as when I had my ix turbo. I promise my car is way more fun than your stock turbo car, also just as good if not better in the response department.

Great for you for going for it, but watch out for Logan... Rick... and Zach... all of which have stock turbo beast that could easily shatter your dreams of being first with just a few changes.

Word of advice stay away from Quaife... lack of warranty and customer service.

My TC was built by Jon at TRE with a Lifetime warranty Wavetrac diff in it. Absolutely bullet proof. I have a extra ring and pinion if you need it.
