neverending problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
got car back together only to discover that the hydraulic clutch bearing leaks!!! this is what i get for having a cheap wife who won't buy new parts. got the clutch used off another EVOM MEMBER so now i'm worried if the used Quaife i bought from him is any good!!!!! when u buy from evom members the expectation is that the parts are in good shape for what u pay. i spent $1600 on both items only to now have to tear the car AGAIN & rebuild the clutch. also he said he included new clutch disks but i have 2 sets of USED disks.

from here fwd, this project will be scrapped. i'm moving family to Miami in June + i got laidoff the day b4 thanksgiving so i need to readjust some things cash wise.

since u have a IX, i would be looking at probly around 30whp less in power on that same fuel even with cams. IX compressor + mivec is like a cammed evo8 w/bigger turbo but NO ONE in az has ran 11's with an evo8 yet on the stocker. the closest guy is Jamie in Anthem AZ with a yellow '05. he ran 12.05@114 w/280cams & a few other parts on 23psi at Speedworld last Sat...
Running 11s on the stock Evo8 turbo without NOS is one of the biggest challenge yet, there are well over one hundred Evo 8 modded in AZ but no one could ever brake into the 11's yet..
Good luck and keep us updated.

TTP is coming to the rescue!!! too bad no AZ shops are willing to help me accomplish this goal. it appears that the norm in AZ is big turbo/big motor cars that have 2k rpm of useable power with no track time or timeslips is "cool".
or 700whp cars that take 2yrs to build get sold 2months after their done.
if there are so many badazz evos in az , y is the only guy trying to rep AZ w/the stock turbo (myself) moving away??
where are all the road race guys at? don't here about them either...

Better watch your tongue, although you made no reference to anyone or any shop, most of your comments are subject to be taken completely out of context, and will be used against you. You have to realize that once you comment about a subject such as the one you did, anyone that your comments "may" be pertaining to will automatically take offense and retaliate accordingly. Further more you will be labeled a hater for not fallowing the masses and being different. I will say that there has been a lot of let downs in Arizona, and Im sure I could be thrown in to that bunch but, like you said best “life happens” when you don’t have a shop or support from sponsors it is very hard to just start an project and finish it exactly how you want to or even when you say. I know that a lot of this thread was wishful thinking but good for you Jib sticking it out.
Now if we could just work on that wife of yours things would be great!

apparently some shops feel as if i might be bashing them by this statement: too bad no AZ shops are willing to help me accomplish this goal.
if that is the way AZ shops feel i'm sorry, but for as long as i have owned an evo in AZ it doesn't seem like u can build a car ur own way here. if u don't do what they tell u it's like ur outcasted.
we all want a shop or shop(s) that we can rely on for anything that we are willing to pay for. the aftermarket tuning segment is already very small so for anybody to limit the business they want to take in, it is only detrimental to their own profits. i also am aware that since the EVO is not designed for drag racing, this is mostly y i haven't got help from the majority of shops in AZ.
there is 1 shop left in AZ that might be able to help me. they know who they are. if they wanna help that would be real good. if they don't that's ok too. my car will run & run fast whether i get help or not. take that anyway you want.

sort of. i changed the hotside to a 10.5 but everything else is the same turbowise. i know guys back east have ran between 11.4-11.99 on the old stocker with a few mods so we'll c what i can do. car might be on road this wknd if there is time. managing things in 2 states is expensive & exhausting
but i'm taking the wife to see her Miami Heat play 2nite in phx vs the suns. gotta make time for family...

Lol I remember when this thread first started. Sucks man, my advice tho the sooner you realize that this car is for your enjoyment and not to set records or prove anything to anyone, is when you'll be satisfied.

JK good luck with your goal... I also just picked up an evo and my goal is 11's on stock turbo for under $1500...it would be too easily to throw a big turbo on the car but then i know it would turn into another project

HRB just came in from UPS. now it's just a matter of time when i can coordinate the teardown again. this time it shouldn't take as long bcuz trans is already rebuilt, quaife is inside xfer case, & i'm not gonna do it in the garage of the rental house in chandler. should b running b4 xmas.
i will of course have to relearn how to drive/launch it especially with the new Whiteline front swaybar & the front suspension setting switched from -1 to -2degrees negative camber...
