No, man, that's over a full point LOWER than the new tune. It's only close to 12.0 at the very beginning just as you come into boost, which is on purpose so as to help spoolup. Notice that the rest of the way you're nowhere near 12.0 on Al's tune, but on the new tune you're never BELOW 12.0. The difference in the AFRs is over a full point, and 100oct is the lowest "race gas" octane there is. It's not like you're using C16 or anything.

Remain there at your own risk...

Some people tune differently than other people you know.
Here is some food for thought.

Mitch,

Just for the record, I stopped at the Vividracing stand to talk to you but you were not there. I was eager to chat with you for a while but the guys at the Vividracing tent told me that some of you guys were in Las Vegas.

I took some pic of the Pepsi RX8 sponsored car and also the drifter.

Take care my friend.

lukytry, your A/F is fine. dont let some of these guys on here scare you. When they start giving suggestion on what A/F you SHOULD be running or how much boost is best without knowing all the facts like ignition timing and a half a dozen other factors have ulterior motives. ANYONE who says if your a/f is this than you'll be making that HP is truly no one to be taking advice from.

That being said, your map is good for 100 octane or greater only. If you try to run pump gas on this map them bad thing will happen.

Lukitry,

Who tuned your car? Richard Garcia?, if so, he has a lot of experience not only on Evos but also on STI- WRX. I was there a couple of years ago tuning my WRX, I got 280.3whp/255tq on the dyno Dynamic Dyno at Dynocomp using 91oct.

Is the shop still very nice and fancy? exotic cars on their show room?

no one is attempting to scare him but everyone in AZ knows that Rich tunes EVO's too lean. ask him about the 4 motors he's blown up already (1 evo, 3 subarus). we are merely pointing out that unless he's going to run C-16 24/7, that he should add a little more fuel that's all. it just needs a better tune especially since he paid Ecutek prices he shouldn't settle for what a "tuner" just gives him. there are alot of variables involved with tuning which is why we go to tuners in the 1st place. we pay $ to trust their judgment on how a car should run. alot of tuners make $ just getting a car to run slightly better than it did when it came in since most people settle for less and/or don't know anything about their cars. we're just trying to help the guy not criticize him. he asked for comments, we are giving them...

Scary. That tune is extremely lean. Of course we can't see the timing, but we make great power by pumping lots of boost and aggressive timing. What sense does it make to have AFRs above 12.5 for half the powerband and still above 12.1 at 7000rpm? I just can't see why in the world you'd want to do that. It's not like unleaded 100oct is that great...

I could run 11.8-12.0 at 21-22psi across the board if I wanted to, but it sure wouldn't be advisable for daily use, nor do I think lukytry's tune is good for daily use. Up to him, though, I guess...

I am aware many tuners try to impress the customers with the strategy of the dyno shop queen which is nothing but getting the max numbers to impress and to get braggin rights, obviously I would not generalized but this could be one example of it.. Maybe I am wrong. The one thing that surprised me though is that knowing Richard Garcia(owner/tuner) that guy at least has 7 years of experience working for Chrysler which earned him the Master certification ASE and another almost 5 years expecializing on WRX and 3 years with STI among other brands like Porsche , Audi and Range Rover.

He also has 2 built STIs, one of them(the 04 runs 11's). I think I give him credit, I mean, the guys has a full AWD dyno plus Clark(AZ scoobie) spents many evenings there tuning the EVO-STI in the Phoenix community. The last thing you want to think is that he does not know how to tune.

The only think negative I have to say about that shop is that he still thinks that his shop is in the core of Beverly Hills boulevard, I mean, his prices are perhaps the most expensive of all the shops in the Phoenix area. On the same note, that guy has the cleanest shop I have ever seen, it is simply prestine..

Remember, that shop is located in Scottsdale and the shop has always been considered the Madame Heidi Fleis of all the shops in Phoenix . It use to be very prestigious but now I think other shops like Vividracing and Mynes are even better equiped.

just my .2c

Carlos
