I finally picked up my Evo IX MR last Saturday. Just a few highlights:

- Finally met Mark in person. Very nice guy.

- Was great having Mark pick me up from the airport.

- Had a clear bra installed before I picked up the car. Turned out absolutely great. Installation was done by a local company called Chips Away (Cooper Boggs 714 350 0572). Had the full hood kit, bumper kit, lens kit, side skirt kit, and I had custom pieces installed to protect the trailing edges of the rear of the fenders. Quality of the install is first rate. The pieces are perfectly aligned, and there is no junk under the plastic. Material used was Venture Tape which has the best reputation in the market.

had mine put on my aerotech. $560 for the full kit.
they were awesome, and made it 1200 miles home with not a single chip in the front.

Aren't you suppose to give your paint one or two months to "breath" before applying anything over it? If you are suppose to wait to wax the car, putting plastic is just as bad.

Soon proud new owner of a Graphite Grey IX MR! Spoke to Cheryl and Bob the GM down at Victorville. Both of them are so awesome, and really work to get you into the car. I live in Vegas, so they are Fedex'ing me paperwork up here for me to bring down Friday when I pick up the car. Having friend drive me down, but waitin all week for paperwork has been nerve wracking hehe. Cant wait for it to come in so I can get down there! But if you need anything, go to these dealers. They are way cool, and nobody in Vegas could touch their prices. I tried all three dealerships, and they couldnt believe how they were knocking the price down that much. Ended up with 590 a month for 72 months, 7.75% apr cali tax included. Im bigtime happy with that...Just wanted to say thanks to them for taking care of me, and cant wait to pick up car!

Thanks Bob, Cheryl and Mark at South Coast for getting us these prices and taking care of EvoM members! You guys rock!

I imagine that the car sat for at least three weeks while it was on the boat to the USA, and then it sat in the lot for 1.5 months before I had the clear bra installed.

knowing how customs works and coming from japan, these cars have been painted for at least a month prior to getting sold, and probably been in all kinds of weather conditions from the boat ride over. I don't see it as an issue since dealers will install prior to you picking up the car.
call aerotect at 1-866-388-AERO or www.aerotect.net for coverage.
they did awesome, was $560 for full bumper, extended hood coverage(24" up), headlights and mirrors. used genuine 3m scotchgard product. I dropped car off at 11:00 and went to play golf in their loaner. didn't get back until 7pm and they were still there, keeping the shop open for me to pick up. first class operation, although a little drive from la/costa mesa, worth every mile to me

Assuming he put 0 down, it's not too bad actually, just less than 6% APR on a 6 year loan. Financing a car for 72 months may be a little crazy, but more and more people are doing it. If you're not going to drive it too much or get rid of it in the next 3 years, I guess it's not a horrible thing to do. Try to get rid of it too soon though, and you'll be big time upside down.

No problem. Yeah, that's the color I'm set on....I used to want a GG but I saw it in person next to a white and didn't like it as much. Can you PM me as soon as you find out when a white IX MR is on it's way please. Oh and when you say next month, do you mean like in June (since that's just about a month away already) or May?

Head's up re: DAS auto shippers-LONG (sorry)

I wanted to pass on my experience with DAS auto shippers to the group.

First off, let me say that this is NOT reflective of Mark or South Coast. My dealings with Mark and South Coast were nothing but top notch. My guess is the reason the Mark has a relationship with DAS is that it is convenient for them to get the cars to the DAS terminal. (Another great service that Mark personally provides, which would otherwise add $140 to the shipping cost.) Mark is up front with the fact that once the car is at DAS, then you the dealing are directly with DAS, not South Coast.

Anyway, Bernie Torres is the "sales agent" I dealt with. Bernie is a nice guy....perhaps too nice, in the sense he just tells you what you want to hear, and not reality.

Based on my converstaion with Bernie, I was promised delivery of my new Evo between 14-16 days from arrival to the terminal. That's right....promised! Bernie also stated that the time would likely be shorter, as it only takes 4 days to get the car coast to coast and that shipments have been "averaging 10 days".

So, I make my plans accordingly to expect delivery within the stated timeframe, and this is when the story gets interesting.

Mark delivers the car to DAS on a Friday. On Tuesday, I call to see what the status is and the car hasn't moved, but should be "assigned any time now" according to Bernie. I call on Thursday; the car still sits, and I'm now concerned. "Oh, it should be assigned tomorrow" says Bernie. I call back Friday (car has now sat a week) and Bernie changes his tune.

"Let me give you the number to customer service, they'll be able to help you out", he says. I call DAS customer service (which must reside in the Land of Misfit Toys) and this is where things really get interesting!

Apparently, my car has no assignment, and is not even scheduled to be assigned until the following week! WTF? "So", I ask, "how is the car going to get to me in the 14-16 days?" DAS-CS, "Oh, there is no guarantee it will be there in that time!"

"You should have only been given a best case estimate, as we do not guarantee any of our times!" the CS rep said. It only went downhill from there.....

I won't continue to bore you with the daily frustration, phone calls, lack of response, or general "F** you attitude that DAS has toward their customers, and just leave you with the fact that the car was delivered a week late (and would have even more if I didn't get to the manager level), cost me more than $200 in additional out-of-pocket costs, and the final touch- floor mats stolen out of the car!!! (Also, why would there be dirt all over the passenger-side floor...did someone decide to take a joy ride with one of their buddies around the terminal lot or does it take two people to load/unload a car off a truck?)

After performng my due diligence, I knew that DAS could be a crap-shoot, as they have mixed reviews from great to plain awful.

I know that others have actually had a good experience with them, but just to let you know...buyer beware!

Mods..please move to appropriate forum if this doesn't belong here...

Damn that really sucks! However, I guess that this could happen with any shipping company though. There are people out there that just don't care if they mess with someone else's property. All they should be doing is their job of shipping the car quickly and securely.
