i just pcs here to Beale Afb in Ca from New Mexico. My evo has New mexico plates and is no way near smog legal! There are no emissions test in the part of new mexico i came from so thus i dont have to do emissions or smog test as long as i have my car registered in new mexico. So if someone tell you to get rid of your Tennesee plates they are wrong. You DO NOT have to do California emmisons or smog. You only have to keep up with your states rules on emmissions. Hope that helps you. Also in cali you cant have tint on your front windows. Guess what i have tint on my front windows and the cops cant do nothing about it because its legal in new mexico. It pays to have your car registered in a diff state that has less strict rules on vehicle! Good luck bro. If you need any more info just hit me up.

Dont get a base decal. You dont really need it. I can get on any base instalation with just my CAC card so its pointless. What base waves you in with just your base decal? None because those rule have been changed due to 9/11

I wouldnt be telling him this if i wasnt forced to get one myself for base. You can only get off for so long before miramar mp's stop letting you on with temp passes before you have to go get a smog..But yea sure listen to the other guys LOL not my problem..And BEALE AFB ouch that sux!! F* your life dude!! id kill myself!! I lived in marysvile my whole life till i left that s**thole..Id rather sit in jacksonville, nc for another 4 years and rot before id move back there. LOL

If the cops honestly cared they could pull you over for tinted front windows anyway bro. When that law changed, it doesnt exclude out of state. Google it. I got pulled over in my old evo when i first got back here from nc and had nc plates. i got hooked up with a fix it ticket. And this was home in marysville near beale afb. marysville cops are desperate to burn people.

I dont get it? why is miramar so crazy with the base decal? Every other base i went too you dont need a base decal because they got rid of it. they said it servers no point anymore due to the new DBIDs system. (i tried to get one at Cannon and got told this) This is Air Force rule tho but i got on army bases with just my CAC card and no base decal. If I were the OP i would just go to the SP office or the JAG and get the right info. Beale is alright. I cant complain, I came from Clovis New Mexico and that place was a **** hole! there wasnt alot out there and it looked just like afgan! So im pretty happy to be at beale but id rather be overseas.

They could pull me over and give me a fix it ticket but it would get thrown out in court because im not a resident to cali and my car is not registered in cali. The tints legal in New Mexico and if they gave me a fix it ticket for something that is legal in the state my car is registered in that would not be SMART. Yea my coworker told me about the marysville cops (hes a Yuba City part time cop) but they cant really do anything to me unless im breaking any traffic rules.

Why would they give you a ticket if it would get dismissed anyway? Been there done that. My new 11' evo i have yet to put on my front plate (cali plates now) and only in marysville would i get pulled over for it, cops there are ridiculous. Down here in SD cops have better things to do then worry bout dumb things like that. And yuba city cops are always bustin on all the street race meets, they have to keep movin there meeting spots. Pretty sure they got someone on the inside thats snitchin everybody out. So watch yourself if you go to one in yuba city, they normally meet places on fri and sat nights at midnight.

Its a Marine Corps air station, not army or air force. They will let you on sometimes with just an i.d. after business hours, but during a business day you wont get on, they will send you off the road to the side for a temp pass. And when your temp pass is up, your lucky if you can pull another one. Last time i was home i went to beale to kinda site see cause i havent been on since my dad retired, and i didnt have a decal yet for my new car for miramar, and they barely even looked at my I.D., I was like wow, did that really just happen. On MCAS New River in nc your car gets searched like its cool.

I'm thinking if you guys are really concerned about a base decal, why don't you already have one on your car from your last duty station?

True forgot about that. Never had to renew one, they seem to last for awhile or maybe I just keep going thru cars before the expiration date

i'm sorry but this is a retarded comment... "what base just waves you in with a decal?" isnt that what decals are for? Every base i've been to the west coast will wave you on with a decal.. and i don't know how things where ever you are stationed but like it has been said in past posts eventually they will MAKE YOU get a pass..

On Pendleton i got a DOD decal with Ohio plates.. it may be different on other bases but this is how it was there. Hope this helps

Great feedback here. I'm currently with HMH-461 but I check into 466 in Feb. I'm thinking about becomming an A/O. What are some sure ways to pass or at least "pass" the smog test?
