I need to research some more and see if there any that pass CA smog.
I run GSC S1 and passed with no problems. I run an FP Black, E85 set-up and it's more than enough power for me on the streets. I only have to make a few modifications (exhaust and intake) when I have to smog the car. The cams are holding me back on power, but it's worth it for smog purposes.

This is how I would do it, in addition to running the OEM catalytic converter. Swapping the cat in and out only takes an hour at most.

You can run a daily driving map and a smog/base/valet map for this very purpose with EcuFLASH.

Install your CAT and then switch to the milder map when you're ready to bring the car in and back to your aggressive map after you get your CAT back in.

Thanks for the feedback. Jay looking into getting some milder cams, throw the Perrins full exhaust back on and I will be up to see you for the tune.

He said that he did install his stock cat.

He had Kelford 272s which usually dont pass. Something milder like an S1 will usually pass. Also, some tuning might make it pass with the Kelfords, but I didnt tune his car, so who knows.

272's

So I had my mind made up to trade my Kelford 272's for a milder cam that might pass smog but with all the feedback from people passing on 272's but running e85 I am reconsidering.

So in order to do this I would need too.(?)

Install e85 compliant injectors
Tune/modify my car to run dual maps

The one thing that keeps bothering me is how much nice the car is to drive with the stock cams. I have driven the car for a week with the stock cams and it lost the massive top end but gained some low end power. it ps much nicer for daily driving, Especially with the A/C on. Is is possible to tune the car to dial out some of the bad idle issues with the 272's or does that just come with the territory?

If you are just looking to smog and don't want all the benefits of e85 just change your setting for your injectors in ecu flash by 30 and double the cranking pulses, that should at least make it start and run, the drive it down and smog it. No boost! And you should be fine. Then go home and flash it back, drain the e85 and put gas back in. Our cars have these awesome plugs on the bottom of the tank that make draining easy. If you want to stay running in it contact whoever you want to tune the car and have them recommend larger injectors for you and a pump that will meet your goals and have them do a full tune with the new parts. But to smog you will be fine with what you have, but like I said, stay out of boost.
