Utah Evos
Good idea, go buy a C6 ZO6 when they come out instead, then you wont have to do any mods but the ones that are easy for you (aka, tires)...and you'll be set, smoking most of us, with a car that still has it's warranty!
So, guess what guys...I just ran my Evo into a curb. **** AWD and the **** brakes this car comes with!!!
So, I was doing a favor for my mom and running out to get something for her. I am going down Ridgemark drive, which is a little curvy and very steep. I think to myself, great I'll keep it in 1st gear and stay off the gas and just let it take itself down (very snowy road). So off I go and guess what? No problems, the car makes it down just fine. So I cross the street, still more or less idling across the intersection, and once through I go to turn. Now, keep in mind I am literally going about 2mph!! I turn the wheel to make a right turn once through the intersection, and the car doesn't respond too well. It turns just enough to point me towards the curb. ****, I think to myself, I can't get the car to respond. I put on the brakes hoping ABS can stop my 2mph drift but to no avail. I hit the curb surprisingly hard. I don't know what happened exactly, but the front end hit pretty hard it seemed, then the back slid around and hit. Then the car started sliding and hit the curb again. Then I thought I was in real **** because my car was sliding towards another car. Obviously luck was on my side tonight though because my car stopped short by about 5 feet of the other car.
So, I checked to see the damage once I got home. I can't see any deformations on either of the wheels, and the side skirts look ok. The front bumber is a little screwed up but not serious. The alignment seems ok, but I haven't really driven it. The gap between the hood and fender looks the same, and the headlights work. I some how cracked the face on my compustar alarm remote, and the piece in the car doesn't beep when I arm it. Unfortunately I think the compustar remotes are a few hundred to replace, so I may turn to ebay.
A few points to note:
1) I have never ever had so much as a ticket. Ever. In all my years of driving, in any season.
2) I have never had an accident. The worst I have done is run over a bucket in my lifted Bronco with 35" tires.
3) Whe I say I was going about 2mph, I mean I had the car in first and the tach was at about 1200rpm. The speedo wasn't even really registering anything.
4) I did have my seatbelt on, even though in this case it actually didn't matter. I wish I had a seatbelt for my knee because I think my knee cracked the remote when I hit. Though still I can't see how.
So, I'm ****ing pissed as hell. My car was absolutely pristine, and I have never had any problem in any car driving in the snow, AWD or not. This week I'll call my insurance (USAA) and see what I need to do. I'm not sure its necessary, but I will try anyway. I'll also call some shops and see what it is going to cost.

I ran over a huge tire tread coming back from Park City Sunday night............got back home and it looked like a tire took a poop on my front end..................needless to say I was pretty pissed, but luckily alittle scrubbing and alot of Meguiars Scratch X and it all came out thanks god..................I really wish it would have hit the intercooler though
Then the insurance could have picked up the billl from Buschur

All in all, its still a POS like the EVO
Jeez, that bites hard...what tires do you have? And the place that I got my stereo sells car alarms, and the guy LOVES Evos...you could try there if Ebay fails you, all you'd have to do is tell him Jake sent you...
And yeah, but the C6 is covered under warranty more often than the Evo...so a POS with a warranty, or a POS without one...I like my Evo cuz I can make it to school on days like this...it just turns into one long rally course! I can't imagine trying to drive even the S2k in the weather this morning...unplowed icy roads, I saw 3 accidents just on my way to the trax station from my house...one guy ran over the sidewalk and into a fence that was on the edge of a really steep hill
