Utah Evos
I’m planning on @ least 5 events this year maybe more. I’m taking the car to Vesko in the next week or two to get some performance upgrades. As for gaming I’m waiting for Forza 2 for the 360(may 07). I got the new Microsoft wheel and now I want to get this racing cockpit

Jcnel, good insight from Paul. I've tried a lot of different options to get rid of inside rear wheel lift on my car. I'm finally just removing the rear sway bar. I'll need a fair bit of time to get things dialed back in with adjustments to the front bar and rest of suspension.
Whether you have Vesko, Ray or someone else do the initial setup; I like and prefer the approach you're taking of learning as much as you can on your own. There is a lot of personal preference in driving style and suspension setup. Approach recommended to me by quite a few different people is:
1. Focus first on chasis tuning (sway bar adjustments, etc) to get handling characteristics you prefer
2. Then springs
3. Damper adjustments
4. Tire pressure
My initial setup was a set of custom valved double adjustable Koni 28s. Very noticeable ability to tune handling based with compression and rebound adjustments. There's some good info online and a number of books on damper setup and tuning. I've heard good things about the KW variant 3s, which are reasonable cost double adjustables. This year I made the jump to tripple adjustable Motons. I'll be using Race Technologies DL1 for data analysis to help with tunning of the tripples.
Moton has a double adjustable clubsport setup that is also excellent; though still pricier than the KWs.
Hey guys, just checking in. Got an 05 RS a few months ago and have been loving every minute of it! I used to auto-x an 88 turbo RX7, and I'm looking forward to taking the evo out to push it's limits a bit.
So do you guys have a local club, or do meets or anything? I'm a member of the local RX7 club, maybe we should do a joint meet sometime

I'm waiting for Forza 2 as well. I got it for x-mas.
I hope they pushed it back to April to add MMP to the track line-up... But maybe I"m dreaming... Bastards pushed Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy back to December 31st. And any gamer remembers Starcraft's many year wait...
But from seeing video of Forza 2 (which, as I'm told, is on a computer and not the actual 360 graphics) and playing the GT HD demo it is going to be VERY VERY hard to get the graphics, if GT HD has realistic damage then the 360 will have Halo 3 going for it at least...

Do your fronts tend to get worn on the outer 2 to 3 inches of tread on track? That's usually a pretty good sign that you're overdriving the fronts. For example, you get into a turn ... car starts to understeer a little bit and rather than easying off the steering you get on the throttle. That's what I mean by mashing it. If you've seen that kind of wear on track, then you're likely not going to do well with 710s. Even with RA1s, you'll be faster if you don't overdrive the fronts.
Whether you run RA1s or something else, remember to swap front and rears to prolong tire life. I'll finally be able to do that with my car now that I've gone to a non-staggered setup.

I just think that the fronts overheated (typical on an FF) and it was hot ambient that day and they just let go.
I am excited to see your 3-way motons!
Over driving is the Evo's forte...
And that isn't necessarily true, in the case of Jeremy's car it had enough horsepower that the throttle was GREAT for correcting understeer and induced a perfect amount of oversteer, especially for turn 5. But the main key is indeed to avoid understeer by whatever means, not only does it ruin your tires but it either forces you to slow down (when, had you been going the proper speed you'd likely be speeding up at that point in the Evo) or it means you're horribly off line and trying to force the car to do something you shouldn't...
The Evo is a train, stay on the rails and you'll haul, but if you stray all you'll hear is grinding and slow down a whole lot. Remember too that it isn't a lite car by any means, so with the really tight corners (namely the last one on the west track) you have to slow down, a lot, I was trying it without slowing down nearly as much as I do now and Ray pointed out that Dennis was gaining on me AFTER the corner in the Exige, once I slowed down he'd gain on me like crazy going in but be left in the dust going out and I gained 15 mph at the end of the straight afterwords.
Or buy some slicks, then it does pretty much everything you tell it too

I am running Tein Super Racings with a higher spring rate in the rear, but other than that, off the shelf. Very happy with the way they perform, and also happy about not upgrading the rear sway.
jcnel- that is all good info. I have felt the way that the car transitions from understeer to manageable oversteer (as desc above) and love it. Whenever you are behind one at the track, you can see it happen. Very controllable and looks cool from behind too!
I like that feature, that way you dont have to run crazy static toe that will eat tires on the street. The more i find out about these cars, the more i am glad i own one.

The only problem with the PS3 is sony took out force feedback and rumble. From what I have read forza 2 + the Ms wheel should be a much better feeling than just the pain controller. I have the MS Wheel its ok. I have been playing GTR2 on my PC for now. This is the Wheel I want G25 but so far as I can tell it won't work with the 360.

I won't be using the plain controller, don't forget that both systems have USB ports now, and I don't know about the 360 (cuz I haven't used them) but the PS3 is compatible with just about every computer device that doesn't require a seperate software install (keyboard, mouse, microphone, the list goes on). They took the rumble out to maintain power for longer periods of time (because, unlike the 360 and the Wii, it runs off of a much smaller and lighter power source than 2 double A's) But, controls asside, the realistic physics (including driving and damage) will be my main factor, course, I'll probably get both since Forza 2 is April and GT:HD is December.
And don't forget the PS3 has downloadable content and FREE online multiplayer... Which are both about half the quality of Xbox's but still...
