Utah Evos
I agree, I talked to an evo owner (quite awhile ago) that thougtht he was just the coolest thing in the world with his evo, and I was in my evo so it wasn't like I was driving around in some piece of crap. It was annoying.
Anyone know anybody in vegas, I broke a wheel, and need a way to get home, I can't find anyone with a wheel, and no one on the board seems willing to help, if any of you know anyone let me know,
thanks,
Rob
thanks,
Rob
question for other evo owners in slc can anyone get there turbo to hold more than 21psi to redline? everytime i tune race gas my turbo spikes nice to 22or 23 but it only holds 20psi to redline! i have tried a aftermarket bov & it's of no help! i beginning to think this factory 16g sucks donkey *****!
Dude you're one of the only guys out there with enough "know how" to run more than 20 psi up to redline. No one with AFC's or what ever has gotten down to real tuning and running serious boost on race gas. Except you Zach. That's why you have the fastest track Evo in Ut at a blazing 13.0.
I have been wanting to get some race gas and try some pulls at like 23 lbs, but haven't got around to it. When I first installed those exhaust parts and BOV I was making some crazy boost spikes up around 24-25 psi, but I guess it held at around 20-21 psi. I'm not totaly sure Scott was the one watch by boost gauge I was watching the road and the tach. I was kinda scared to do very many pulls because I was just on pump gas and didn't really want that much boost.

Did you see our PM on SLCSR. Brandon and I are doing some law enforcement while we are here in Taiwan.
I just got a free stainless steel muffler: 6 in round with 4 in tip 2.5 in diameter stuff. I also got a mandrel bent 90 degree piece of tubing. Taiwan is a good hookup. The factory next door builds exhaust systems. They don't do premade catbacks for Evo's so I just got the muffler and a piece of tubing to weld it up myself. This will just be an axle back. I'm going to keep the main center section with the resonators.
Maybe I should have asked for 3 in stuff but I don't think they do alot in 3 inch. The only 3 inch part I saw was a titanium muffler. I can't weld on that so I passed.

I sometimes spike to 29psi on race gas, but my turbo has no problem holding 28 psi to redline. ha ha ha ha, Oh on another note, I pulled off a lousy 12.4 at 111 this weekend, for some reason I couldn't find a happy medium between 1 or two counts of knock, and misfire. So, by backing out timing, I would misfire which caused me to lose about 6mph in the 1/4. I think the only way to solve this is going to be with a full standalone. Mike almost has me talked into the autronic, but i'm going to do a little more digging before I make a decision. If any of you are interested in a basically new utec, with remote map selector, and external map sensor(gm 3bar) it's forsale for $950.
Back on tiopic, I couldn't get my stock turbo to hold over 19psi to redline. I personally think it is because of the pressure ratio at our altitude. I could however be wrong, but the math shows PRESSURE RATIO= 11.5+22/11.5 (11.5 is what I calculated after intake and intercooler drop, and out atmospheric pressure which is around 12.5) OR 2.91. IF you plot that along with the calculated flow of our engine on the flow chart of the 16g, I'm guessing its a little too close the surge line, this is just my guess, being that ive never actually seen the flow chart for the stock turbo.
