Giraud gave me your number, and I tried to get ahold of you while we were in SLC, but you didn't answer.
This is the first time i've played with an safcII, and the whole throttle position vs. rpm has got me a little bothered. We threw on my buddies obdII scan tool to watch timing while we played with it a bit on saturday, but I just couldn't get it working like I'd like. Load changes so much with an mbc that it is hard to tune by throttle postition. I need to weld my wide band bung in this week so I can tune it by afr, and then learn to use the blasted thing the way it's supposed to be used. I'm thinking that it's just going to have to go away. I'll probably order a utec next week, i'm a little more comfortable with it.
Anyhow, where are you reving to now with your 272's. What kind of boost are you running on c16??? I think your set up is fairly similiar to mine now, We should get together, and maybe you could help me with the safcII
.
Let me know,
Like scott said, Mitch and I are headed down around 3:30 on friday, Mitch won't be racing his car this week, so I won't be having my *** handed to me by a little white sti
But it should be fun.

also do you have a fuel pump? because i don't but i was thinking of buying one, from my past dsmlink use it was easy to tune pump gas with big injectors & timing control, that is why i want the utec also.
I am getting a utec soon. I am not getting the coilovers anymore.
But i think the UTEC will be enough to keep me happy for a little bit
So you won't be the only one around. And we can alwasy bug mitch if we can't figure it out. I guess he is freaking good with the thing. I will let you know how i like mine or when i get it you could come check it out.

I've played with the utec a number of times on Mitch's cars. It isn't as user friendly as dsmlink, but once you get familiar with the numbers, you should catch on very quickly especially since you have background with dsmlink. The new software(i'm pretty sure it's being released this week) has injector scaling, dual stage rev-limiter(which enables flat shifting, it's selectable through ignition, or injector cut), and it allows you to switch to closed loop fuelling whenever you like(o% tp on up). It basically has all of the same functions that the sti-utec has. Mitch has the turboxs tuner, which dilsplays afr on the datalog, so it comes in handy when setting up your load columns. I won't speak for Mitch, by saying he'll help you anytime you need it, but we've been friends for over ten years now, and I've never known him to turn someone away, if you're worried about it, i'm sure he'll walk you through the basics.
I have the exedy hyper single six-puck ceramic sprung hub, I like the way it hooks when you launch, and drive the car hard, but i'm having some trouble with engagement, and disengagement, i've bled the clutch about four times now(although i'm thinking I might need to bleed the brakes first, then bleed the clutch being that they share the same reservoir), and I just switched out the slave cylinder push rod, which seemed to help, but I'm still not satisfied. You're welcome to check it out whenever you'd like.
I have a walbro 255lph fuel pump and ams 680's. I'm probably going to upgrade my injectors here in a few weeks, if you're interested i'm sure we could work out a pretty good deal, that goes for anyone.
I think the key to tuning our 91octane horse **** is water injection. You wouldn't believe the difference it made on Mitch's blue wrx. AMS is going to be releasing there kit soon, and it looks pretty good. They're making 505hp to the wheels on 93 with there gt35r kit, tell me that wouldn't be fun
Hopefully we can get together this weekend, sat. I'm taking my nephew to see the Monster Trucks, so I'll be in SLC, but I don't know if my sis would approve if I took her 3 year old son street racing
How do you judge knock on this blasted safcII?? The numbers are always all over the place

I have a turbo back exhaust, and I should have a Perrin MBC for sale when I get my UTEC but don't hold me to it. I am looking to get HKS 272, head studs, and hks head gasket after the UTEC. Then after that it will be a sort of getting ready for real power set up. I will just be getting pump fuel rail injectors etc... all the supporting mods. and then this winter when I buy my beater truck I am going to save and get the Eagle stroker kit. Then I will need a clutch and sometime I will need wheels and tire too. Then finally a turbo, I/c etc.. . After that I should just be replacing stuff when it breaks and having fun.
Yeah from just talking to mitch at autox and stuff he seems like he would help me if I run into some probs. But knowing me I will just dick with the thing until 1 I blow my motor or 2 understand the thing inside and out. I am hoping for number 2
well if I blow my motor I think i will be forced to the the stroker kit
Ben
Oh yeah and I might make a car payment sometime

Zack, did you try to tune it with pump gas? So if I don't plan on running race gas for street driving, is an AFC useless? I know of guys around here that have an AFC running -12% on pump and have no issues?
Hey Rob, what are you running on your AFC settings?

So would you say you could get gains from an AFC on pump gas or no? Lean it out-10% and it's good? I just don't want to go spend then money on an AFC if all I can do is use it when I put race gas in. Starts getting pretty expensive then running race gas all the time.
