All, I know im a n00b and should probably establish a rep on here first but I have to ask anyway. I just bought an 05 EVO gsr, it has full AMS TB w/test pipe. I dont know if the SES is on because of that, the only code its throwing is P0401 (EGR flow)...

I've searched this thread for EVO friendly shops and checked the community boards for possible ways around my situation. I just dont want to just show up lookin like a poser and ask someone to do state/im for me so.....

Could any of you direct me a place I may go that could possibly pass me? I know the EGR code wont necessarily cause me to fail but if the catch no cat on it Ill need to possibly put the factory exhaust or a High Flow cat on there for the emissions.

Passing for no cat is a lot harder than passing for dark tint or something like that. Just get/borrow a high flow for getting it done. But you may find somewhere that'll pass it, it's not unheard of.

 

Do you see where number 2 is? The bottom hose most likely fell off. put it back on there and zip tie it back on. It should never pop off again

 

Whoops!! Forgot to also say that I read about this on the forum being a common problem with EVO's. I read about this on the forum a couple of days ago at the library and then checked the hose. It did come off the nipple and I put it back on but didnt reset the SES code yet. When the car was re-tuned after new cams, they asked my bro-in-law wanted to do an EGR bypass, he opted not to.

Also, I went to Pep Boys to get an Anti-Fouler to simulate the O2 reading clean (read about that on here too). I havent it them on yet though, I dont know if some were put on when my bro-in-law had the exhaust put on the car though either. I know the shop that did it but I dont want to drop any names in here. Ill check to see of there is an anti-fouler between the O2 and bung tomorrow.

Could it be passed though with the EGR being the only thing triggering the SES?

I know it wont pass on a visual with the test pipe. Im trying to not to have to bolt the factory exhaust or another Cat on to get it passed.

cod3 r3d, i got passed in kaysville at the jiffy lube right off the highway. cool *** dudes there and most were car enthusiasts anyway so.... but as far as getting a stock cat or something like that, i would contact a member named weston. he just removed his cat and exhaust for a better one. you should come to the meet on saturday at jasons shop so we could do it there or at least figure out a plan. the meet thread is in this section. go post over there on whether you will be attending or not so we can plan to work on your car as well.

 

Thanks for the info. I do have the stock exhaust available to put back on, I was hoping not to do that though cause I didnt want to take the time to.

I was thinking about that meet too just to check out all the other EVO's around. Maybe Ill come but dont want to post up that Ill be there and not show. Ill post in there by tomorrow though if its not too late.
