I would just get some stewart warner gauges and mount them where the radio is. You can get a whole kit from 42 Draft Designs.

You need a tactrix cable to flash your car.

My advice, don't waste your money on over priced gages. The only gage that needs to be even remotely accurate for tuning purposes is the A/F meter. Even then, as long as it’s repeatable to itself it really doesn’t need to be precise. It’s all just arbitrary numbers that your car will like to operate near and the numbers really mean very little. As long as the gage is repeatable, you'll be fine if you have a decent datalogger setup.

Boost, oil pressure, coolant temp, fuel pressure, etc... they are all just a go/no-go device IMO and most of the cheap gages are accurate to themselves so they will be adequate to display problems. Besides that, if the car is actually fast, you'll have a tough enough time keeping the car in check and trying to mointor the gages is just a simple glace and go type affair anyway.

Depending on where your going. If your going to SLC then buy some warm clothes If your coming down to St George you don't need as many warm clothes

I pretty much agree that you do not need to spend big bucks on gauges. Figure if VDO is good enough for Porsches then they are good enough for my Evo. I am running Defi now, but I do not think they are anymore accurate then the VDO's I had in my old Evo and I would not be running them if they were not in the car when I got it. If you track a modded car though, I like having some information available, even if I am not looking at it all the time.

If you are interested I have a set of VDO gauges for sale (boost, water temp, oil temp) with all new senders.

I moved from San Diego a while back. The climate was hard to adjust to, all the Utah guys would laugh at me because in september i was walking around in full snow gear trying to stay warm. My only recomendation would be to get your self a good set of snow tires for the winter.

Gauges suck they aren't important. All they are is a way for the man to sick it to you!!! I'm kidding if they provide you with useful data that you can use to understand what your car might be doing then all the better. I had defi's in my STi they were sick. I loved how the looked and they macthed the dials perfectly. I'm sure they would give me the same readings as most other gauges but it's personal preference.

It was more of a joke than anything, going back to a conversation that stomper and i had on saturday.

If you are road racing, then i think there are a few gauges that you need (you can always give them a glance on the straight). Oil temp and oil pressure amoung the top. Personnally i run a Zeit and the stock oil temp gauge. For now i'm fine with only that.

I have seen crappy gauges break prematurely, read incorrectly which could ruin your day. Especially if you are tracking down a boost leak that doesn't exist!! LOL.

Anyway, i agree with munoa, personal choice. Just please, for the love, dont get autometer!

I run a zeitronix for boost, egt and afr then I run a oil temp, oil pressure and water temp gauge. And soon I will be running the zeitronix alky failsafe, just need to get my unit updated to handle it.

Do they charge for the upgrades? Mine is about 2 years old, and doesn't even read EGTs in *F.

speaking of Gauges. What's with the cheap stock gauges on the MR? They look like something from Pep Boys.

I personally like having my boost gauge in my car. My friends car has felt kinda weird lately and we noticed that for some reason he is sometimes getting 20 PSI and sometimes only 10-15. Without the gauge we wouldn't really know what was going on. I plan on running Boost, A:F, Oil temp, Oil Pres, and EGT in the future.

Yes they do, $49 plus shipping. If your display does not show *F you will need to send the box and the display in.

Zeitronix can take care of boost, egt and afr in one unit, that way you do not have gauges everywhere. I have my display mounted on top of my steering column and my other gauges mounted in the radio location.
