Favorite Canyon Road

What's your favorite canyon/mountain road to shoot? Whenever I get a new mod or just need some practice, I love to try it out on Piuma (between Topanga and Mailibu). Great view at the top (or romantic if you're with someone). Some of the inland mountain roads are fun too!

Not in CA. but we have some incredible mountain roads here in Colorado...Canyon Ave. in Boulder becomes a state highway but the high amount of traffic limits it's fun. Still good, but if you want real thrills in Boulder area, Flagstaff Mountain, all the way up to Gross Reservoir is insane.

PCH north...
now it's not really a canyon.cliff going up on one side and cliff going to the ocean on the other.no real streatch of anything even close than a straight-a-way.great for hugging the tight turns fast(as long as you don't get stuck behind a stupid tourist)now i know it's more north than your looking but believe me...it's worth the drive if you want to drive a road that's ment to be enjoyed by people who know the love of the drive

DaBMan: You must go to Rocky Peak? My grandmother used to work there! It's a small world after all. Yeah I love finding an excuse to drive to Simi Valley via Santa Susana.

Highway 23 out of Westlake Village in Ventura County, CA towards the ocean.

I would seriously consider doing it in a rental. It feature jumps drop-offs an many hairpin turns. There is even a tree in the middle of the road right when you start out.

I have not been up there in a while so it may be different now.

That's kinda what I meant by Decker/Encinal. You're right, they might have changed things, 'cause I didn't see a tree in the middle of the road, but the pavement sure seems to twist around some trees like it used to go through them! That must have been a sight!

Trance: You talkin' about the Big Sur area? My dad and I drove that way to Laguna Seca one year just for the pretty view.

Modjeska Canyon Road. Good luck finding it. If you live in orange county CA, take Jamboree to Santiago Cyn. Take a left onto Modjeska, and put yer seatbelts on.

83 from La Honda to Skyline. East of Alice's Restaurant.
Canyons in the shadow of Giant Redwoods. Challenging!
