I've had my P2 installed for over a year now - since November 2003 with no issues. I've put about 13,000 miles on the car since personally.

Back to the subject of the post, above is a short (but large) mpeg1 video of my defi-link gauge playing back a WOT 'event' in gears 2, 3, 4, and briefly 5. You can clearly see the boost spike and then fall back. I don't remember where I shifted but it was probably around 6k.
Gear 2 it jumps to 21, drops to 18, and then settles at 19.
Gear 3 it jumps to 24 then settles at ~20.
Gear 4 it jumps to 25 then settles at 21.

Works - what would it take to have the boost peak and hold steady without the overshoot?

engine mods at the time of this vid were:
- P2 flashed 2004/11/5
- Works 76mm ceramic DP, 76mm resonated IP, AB, and aperture
- UR test pipe
Will,
WORKS has an update flash that will help supress the spike you are seeing. Spikes like this are not uncommon even on stock cars (our MR was spiking as high as 24PSI before we even touched it) and it is probably being exagerrated by the test pipe. If it were holding at those levels rather than the momentary jump, I would look into it further. Regardless, we'll get you taken care of when the Croxx II and drop-in filter arrive (or sooner if you'd like ).

It is also a characteristic of the OEM software If the spikes were to last more than a fraction of a second or if WORKS was to encounter any negative side effects, then we wouldn't have released the P2. One of our key goals when designing any product is reliability. WORKS will not comprimise the safety of your EVO for sake of a few extra bits of power.

Thanks Jamie. I'll wait until everything is ready =)

To be fair I've never encountered a single problem with pinging or CELs and I never recorded a pre-P2 boost envelope so I haven't seen stock behavior.

In other news when are you guys attending the LA auto show? I'm trying to decide what day to hit it...

best way to solve that issue is running a MBC
Dejon MBC rocks !!!
1.4 bar and it tappers to 1.3bar at high rpms (near 6500 and up) now the midrange is amazing !!

Would an MBC like this be safe to run with the P2? I know WORKS sells a boost controller ..

if you dont like the boost spike that WORKS P2 provides , then a MBC is best.
I can show you my dyno chart and point out where the P2 spikes (drops for a second ) and reaches full boost again. With the MBC you have full boost at 3200rpms providing excellent midrange which you can benefit alot if you like to road race (now at 3000rpms ) and it tappers at near 6500rpms by 2lbs.
The only issue i can think of the WORKS P2 everything else is fine.

Our plans got shifted and we now have our MR TR-340S3.5 (TR340 Engine + S3.5 Suspension package) at the San Jose Auto Show this week in the Mitsubishi booth.
It appears that Motor Trend and Primedia (Sport Compact, Super Street, etc.) are directly involved with the show as well.

I know it's a bit of a hike but if you happen to be up this way again, give us a call.

Going to the dealer soon for my 20k oil service. I'll ask them again about the reflash for the P0300. Last time I talked to them they hadn't heard of anything - I was on the phone, but asked them to double-check and they quickly replied nope. I'll give it another shot.

I'm one of the lucky ones that give the severe vibration along with the code. It's the vibration I'm more worried about. If I get the dealer flash and then get the updated P2 fix, what are my chances of eliminating that vibration?

Update to all.

My dealer apparently relfashed me without telling me or asking if it was ok. I noticed the different boost levels as soon as I left, so I called back to ask what they did.

I've sent the ECU off to works to get the P2 put back in along with their integrated fix. I really hope this takes care of Mitsu's problem. I'll update everyone in about a week or so.
