What ECU are you using?

Hey all you turbo guys, I just wanted to know what is the BEST standalone ECU for our cars. I want something that has been proven to work well, but also has lots of support and customers. Before I was going to go with MegaSqurit, but people said it's not good for our cars, and most likely if the engine light goes on, my engine would blow up. I wanted to go with AEM, but not too sure what type of support that has for our cars. I know they work well with the EVOs, so I was hoping that it would work on ours.

We may start selling just our engine management setup for the RA. Someone down for that?

Would this work for automatics as well, also what kind of price would we be looking at?

^^they have the auto turbo kit out now, so it'll be the piggy from that kit. the ones with the N/A map are $459, so id guess and say around the same price.

Right there you pretty much listed your options as far as full ECUs (AEM and megasquirt). Only other one I can think of is the Haltech E8 that RPW sells. However, standalone ECUs aren't common in the Ralliart world, so no matter what you use, you'll probably be pretty close to on your own.

Do you mind telling us what that might be, you don't have to go into details. Are we talking like FTC? AFC? I'm intrested either way.

i had just emailed RRM and was asking them if they had plans of doing something that could also control ignition timing. that would def. be worth changing out what i have now.

I thought that RRM was using a piggy back ECU, but I'm probably wrong though. But if it is a piggy back ecu, or a "black box", I won't be able to customize much, and probably won't help me in the long run. My friend was telling me about Wolf 3D which isn't too bad, and he has it running on his lancer. But I don't know if I should believe him becaues he got an engine blow, but he was producing 400 something WHP. anyone heard of this? Also, there's some on these forms with 400 to 500 WHP on their lancer ralliart. Anyone know what ecu he is running? I will probably try to find out more about AEM. I like them the most, and they seem to be one of the best.

We will prolly start offering the boxes we have been using on our turbo kits. They are proven and the hardware mods have been made to fit Lancers, RA speciifcally, including map clamps etc....

By the way do not take advice from guys who blow their engines.... It is kinda like taking marriage advice from your friend who has been divorced and lives with his Mom!
We are starting to see a lot of this on EVOM.......

I was searching around for the AEM EMS system on the Ralliarts, but could not find any. Does anyone know if AEM makes EMS for our cars? I did come across Road Race Motorsports 2003 Lancer using the AEM EMS. Can I use the same EMS but with different maps?

New ECU Management

Looks like GReddy Emanage is going to be an option once the guys in Texas get their new package together.

I believe TurboTech down in PR was using the AEM EMS.

Just curious, if i were to buy the piggy back ecu right now to go with some N/A mods, then went F/I somewhere down the line, would the piggy back be able to be re tuned for the turbo or would i need a standalone unit?
