take them out and fill the gaps with liquid polyurethane OR just buy them made at rrm

wait, i'm confused... what it sounds like you're saying is while trying to shift into second the shifter seems to jump that direction anyhow. this is a bad thing how? i've experienced something similiar in both my evo and the lancer and always thought it was a good thing - a perfect shift. now if it's jumping out on it's own, that would be reason to worry.

i had that problem with 3rd gear..it finally broke at 17k..the two disks seperated..no one's fault..just an engineering thing..maybe metal fatigue..had it fixed easily at dealer under warrenty...runs great now...it might be worth your time to take it in and have them drop trans and check..from day one, when i would try to shift from 2nd to 3rd over 3500rpm..it would stick like it was missing a slot or something..i just ignored it until i had no choice...don't despair, all cars, even the evos have trans problems sometimes..good luck

If the shifter is popping out randomly just while you're driving that's a bad thing. If you're starting to shift and the shifter feels like it's being sucked towards the next gear by some mystery force, that's nothing more than the synchros being perfectly aligned. It's a good thing!

I had that happen with the stock shifter and short shifter and bushing...it did it in the ES also.
