ROAD/RACE- Cam and Ported Head
Price, by far. there is nothing I could do to waste 1300 on a head or 600 on a cam. These mods are for the guys who can't do anything else at all, or have money to spend without consequence.
I might eventually buy the cam, just because it is offered, but I would never buy the head. I am too hands on to buy something like that to just have it dropped in. Maybe for half the price, but I doubt you guys could feasibly cut the price in half. migueralliart is building a head in the same manner I would go about it, just like I am building my turbo kit.

OK then, Cams cost what they cost. As for cylinder head it is not just ported and polished. It is fully machined $300+, decked $60 and complete gasket kit included our cost $250. It starts to get expensive. The porting is done by a professional that ports 40 hours a week and flow benched. Not cheap. It is not someone making $8 and hour dremel. But I understand this stuff is expensive. We have only a couyple cores so we would not want to sell more than 2 a month anyways.

not to rant but i could understand the cost if the actual porting was done by a cnc machine with little-to-no error (perfect to the milimiter) but if the porter is doing it by hand his dremel is as good as any bought at sears.
IF the porting on the rrm head is done with cnc then its value matches the product.

Mine is ported (not polished cause it's not recommended for ceramic coating),Ceramic coated, racing valve job, cryogenized for relieving stress..., BRONZE VAVE GUIDES, VITON VALVE SEALS....
Mine has a lot of experience in Honda HEads and VW heads and they are by far the most difficult ones to port. If you claim you cyl heads are flowbenched then WHERE ARE THE RESULTS, the proof , the pics of the intkae ports before and after , the material removed..
Really so you are using the stock cams and regrinding them anyone cam buy a 100 spare camshaft and get it regrinded for 150 more...
I am not trying to bring your business down and I know MODS are now looking to erase this, but all I said was true , the cyl head is way overpriced, i bought a spare cyl head and have done more work than you did on you heads and in the end I will still have some cash and a spare head and camshaft////
If the porting would have been done by a CNC machine these heads would've cost 3,000

If you don't like the price or the product than stay the hell out of the post. If I could get a ported cylinder head for the EVO with gaskets for this price I would be all over it.
Are you serious , this is a Ralliart thread who was talking about evos?? ..... this is a thread to comment on their product. I have bought stuff from RRM before and as a customer I have the right to make opinions (freedom ) you can't mess with that......
The price is high but they are in business to make money. you can get almost anything cheaper if you do it yourself but if you want it all for you, it will cost money. ppl who buy their head dont want to go through the bs of finding all the parts, a good machinist, a core etc.
I'll have to agree with him Joe.
ROCK has asked us why no-one was jumping on the head and camshaft, and we just gave our opinions. It is price, and you're right, if its too expensive don't buy it.
I think were all entitled to our opinions so long they're constructive critism and no bashing which I think migue is well within.
Were paying for something where we haven't seen the before and after pictures as well as the results to prove the claims. Not saying ROCK isn't telling the truth, but obviously if were going to be spending $1000+ we of course want to see something.

PRofessional porting is not cheap. Garage guy with a dremel is. Our porter does Midget motors for a living. It does make a difference that is all I can say.

Well I still think we need to see some sort of results to be honest.
1. Images of products, before and after.
2. Results. Dyno proven
- Just something.
We can't just talk about how "this is this" and "this is that" and "how good the quality is" etc.. it just simply doesn't work like that. Not in my case anyway. I know there will be gains not-a-problem, but I kinda want to know the cost : power ratio.
I'm pretty sure we all know RRM have good quality products and only invest in the best, but c'mon, you're not going to for example, sell a turbo kit and say "its done by a professional, good quality, its fast, the gains are there etc." - This can be applied to any product.
As the saying goes, talk is cheap and seeing is believing
