So basically I have to spend $150 more for the reflash to work? After I spent $450, plus $200 on a spare ecu, plus $35 each time I sent the ecu to Canada (3 times), for a "working" reflash?

I'll never recover from this...

What's the point?

No you dont HAVE to have it for the flash to work. If you want to further tune it to how you see fit you need one. Just like you need a serial cable for the piggyback...

Not really honestly, If I were to be wanting to tune my car myself Id probably already have the cable or planned on purchasing the cable. Otherwise just do the mail in flash or piggyback and keep the map you get on it. Thats what I think anyway haha. When I got my piggy first thing I did was run and get a cable for it, if it required a tacttrix I can say i would have bought it haha

That's the issue. I've had the "mail in" reflash not work twice, and I paid full price for it plus extras.

Assuming it doesn't work again, I'd have to buy the cable. That would allow the sellers of the reflash to say that it doesn't work because of my tuning, not theirs. Being able to tune the reflash doesn't solve anything because I paid for a "pre-tuned" reflash, not a tuneable one.

If I paid for a pre-tuned reflash, I'd at least expect for it to work as described, without having to purchase anything that wasn't described or offered when I got it the first time.

This has been going on for about a year, and this is the third time I send my ecu back to Canada. Some say "third time's the charm"... I'm just hoping this is true...

You had told me all of that, but there was no mention about the cable. Since there were new comments, I wanted to clarify some doubts I had. Getting that cable might be an issue. Which one is it? I think I might be able to get one from a friend, but I need the specifics.
I dont know what your name is on here sorry man. Once you get he ecu back there should be no issues as we have been working on what is causing that problem.

The whole tuning package is more that what you got for the flash for. We cant charge for something that is not ready for market yet. As a thank you to everyone that has got the flash we are giving the software for free.

If you do not get the flash now and wait for the soft ware the tuning kit will consist of: Tune, Software, Cable.

OK. I understand the whole tuning package thing, but I don't get what the software will do for me if I can't tune.

Remember, I paid for a "pre-tuned" reflash, which is what you guys are fixing. I won't do any tuning or modifying because there's supposed to be no need for me to do that. Once I get it back, I'll run the same tests I ran before: learning, road testing and dyno.

I don't want the tuning kit. I want what I paid for... A "pre-tuned", "working" Lancer RA ecu reflash. If it doesn't work again, I won't be asking for the tuning kit because, like I said on a previous post, it's just another way for you guys to tell me that a refund will never be issued to me, even though it never worked.

You told me before that if it didn't work, you guys would refund. After I showed you the new problems, you first said that you needed to verify it was really your ecu, and then that a software would be issued to me to make changes accordingly.

I'm trying to stay optimistic, but you're not making it easy when you keep making changes as my problems come up.

The problem you are having was an unforeseen issue and we are doing our best to resolve this, we even went as far as doing a another dyno run at our cost (as we do not have a dyno yet) and we did get good numbers, we wanted to double check the ecu part number so we can double check the rom id, we did find there are a few minor differences between the ecu you sent and the ecu that we used for a beta tester. Hackish has determined that those differences may be causing the mivec issue you are having. We will fix this....

You are correct when you say the pre-tuned ecu is good for the mods you have. If you do not want to tune the car further then dont...the software is for people that want to see if they can improve the tune, or add a mod that we dont cover such as a cam or ported intake.

Remember I sold my car. The reason I want this solved is so I can sell it, but I don't gain anything, just recover, and not even 100%. I finally found someone really interested in buying it from me, but that will depend on the dyno results. He's holding out on mods just to make sure that it will work with what you send.

Even if a refund was issued, I wouldn't recover 100%, so my aim is to be done with this. Ricardo didn't charge me for the dyno runs, but the others did, so I'm also pulling out of my pocket for this. Between dyno, shipping and the spare ecu I used, it's costing me as well and I still don't have the results I paid for.

Nothing personal, but I know that there are always unspoken and hidden issues between parties that do not get published, and so there might be a bias by readers of this thread against you or Ott that is not deserved because they don't know the full story - and really, the full story is none of our business.

I know first-hand that Ott and Hackish are honourable businessmen, and from what I read you are a knowledgable keen enthusiast that adds value to our forum. I'd like to keep my perceptions that way.

First of all, don't get me wrong... I'm not trying to be rude...

The title clearly says "Hackish ECU reflash Review". All my posts here have been about that, and I've posted my results pretty clearly. If I had found a thread like this, with all the info that's on it, I would've thought twice before getting the reflash.

I have the only dyno info on the NA Lancer 4G69 reflash, so I think my voice should be heard (or words read for that matter). Whether it's personal business or not, the conversations are regarding the reflash and how things have developed since it's original launch.

Now, you say Ott and Hack are honorable business men. I don't doubt that as they have been very professional with me all the way through, but let me ask you this: Did you get the reflash? Have you tested it, or seen someone do it? What would you do if you were in my position?

Have you even read the whole thread? There are no hidden issues about the reflash since they've all been posted here, so if you have read the full thread, you should already know that.

All I've been asking and posting is about the reflash, nothing else. Long story short, my ecu was reflashed twice, it didn't work any of those times, and it's now on its way to being reflashed for the third time. Once I get new results, these will be posted as well. Whatever the results, I bet everyone here (except you probably) will be eager to know what they are. I've stopped judging a long time ago, so my reason for posting in this thread is simple: get all the facts straight, no bull$hit.

I have to agree with RN. Please try to resolve this behind the scenes, if not possible ask the mods on the forum for an arbitration session (if nec.). I am fully compassionate of your scenario from a time and money standpoint, but let's do as much as we can to maintain the technical integrity of EvoM.

Modding is expensive...but I always tell my lady I could be doing drugs instead.
