called them at 4 and they said that they can only reproduce the sound when shifting aggressively... but i told them it doesn't happen when it's cold.. so i don't think they let it warm up enough because last saturday when i noticed it i was on the highway driving for an hour and then when i got back in to the city it grinded no matter what... I don't think i shift aggressively at all.. (do I? check my vid and let me know) anyways, they said that the regional service rep has to get back to them so thats why they didn't call me all day. they have to get his approval to tear the transmission apart to look at it... but he was out of office for the day.

I'm late to this thread, but with an aftermarket LSD, there's not a chance in hell that it'll be covered by the warranty. The transmission has be opened and modified. That said, I'm wondering what the hell you're doing to your car that you've killed the synchros so quickly. Is my car just a freak or something? 130,000 miles, autocrossing, drag racing, and track days, and the trans shifts just like it was new.

so sounds like if they get permission they will tear it apart and replace some synchros or whatnot under warranty?

do you push the clutch in all the way, all the time? lol
I usually dont shift very fast at all, only when im in a hurry. Usually I just let it pop into gear.
I'd offer to drive your car and see for myself if it grinds the way I shift. Meh.

mitsubishi put the lsd in, along with my clutch, so i think i'm fine in terms of that.

and I am not the first owner, it belonged to my brother in law who road raced and autox-ed it, and then i continued that by also autox-ing and a few track days as well. I think your car is a freak =P or mine went bad by chance. like i said though, 1,2,4 and 5 are all good, just 3 grinds.

I'm not sure if they'll replace it under warranty, but if they have to tear it apart.. mind as well change whatever is broken instead of me saying, no put it back together i'm bringing it somewhere else to fix it, and then them having to put it all back together... lol.. hopefully they don't charge me though, i'll be sure to ask if it'll cost me anything if they do get the go ahead.

and i push the clutch all the way down all the time. what I recorded in my video is how i drive every day.

Just because a business is willing to accept money in exchange for a service doesn't mean they're going to suddenly warranty their work or anything that could go wrong because of the part you paid them to put in. If the dealership is smart, they'll deny you coverage. Based on your mods, it's clear you're not driving the car like an old lady. You have bushings, you have a short shifter and you even have an LSD. If the synchros go at this stage of the game, it's abuse. You admit you race the car, so why should Mitsubishi be stuck with the tab?

I never said they HAVE to cover the tab, It would be.... "nice" probably is not the correct word to use... of them if they did. however, as I said up top on my first post, I asked how much it would possibly cost if I were to get it done at another shop or did it myself in the event that they do not honour the warranty for whatever various reasons.

I also never said that I would play dumb about not knowing what modifications I have one the car. I am mature and do have my respect, honour, and dignity to admit what the car has had done to it.
What I do not accept is a bias or an immediate response of "you are a young guy and most typical young people abuse their car" that I will absolutely not tolerate. They did however treat me with the respect I requested in looking at the car and then not accusing me of abusing the car, but rather will investigate further. I completely respect that if they do decline warranty and I am willing to pay for the repairs myself, but as i said before it would be a bonus if they did fix it under warranty.

I did not intend to come across as someone who *****es and moans about dealerships not honouring warranty, but I did request the respect of the dealership not to judge me based on my age.

Having said that, I mean no offense in saying that your posts seem quite aggressive and angered, but that may be because of a misunderstanding, but if not, I request that all negative or bashing comments be kept to yourself or vented elsewhere.

I'll freely admit my post was somewhat angered, it was not bashing however. If you can't handle criticism, you shouldn't post. I'm just tired of people on forums (it's common on virtually all forums) who think it's right to mod a car, race a car and then expect a manufacturer to pick up the tab when it breaks. I'm not accusing you of this, I'm simply stating a point.

sent in the maintenance records (from southside to westside) but westside said that HQ MIGHT want southside to take it apart since they took it apart last time to put everything in. and apparently it's documented that the previous owner also complained to southside about rough shifting pre-bushings. still seeing on where this goes though. in the mean time. anyone have suggestions on other places in Edmonton or somewhere to ship my tranny off to to get it rebuilt? (in the event that they don't want to do the work)
