I think you mean the 260 whp. But even that shouldn't be a problem. Maybe even with just a tune.
I suspect 260 whp will require a freer flowing exhaust but 260 wtq might be achievable without one.

the "Experts" says in here the RA forum, the RA exhaust is a same as the Evo. and the evo exhaust you believe it or not is a pretty capable unit.
but you right, the exhaust will help, if the intake and the turbo can follow it.

i'm not argueing , i'm just telling you it is a big different. From personal experience.
When the throttle got disconnected the car is slows down in a calm way so basically you dont get a scare factor + you still got all the power steering, breaking etc stuff. The car goes to idle. No problemo.
The blow engine will stop working. Can cause wheel stops, drive train damage, loss power steering , breaking problems , and you got the scare factor for sure . Which can lead confusion and so on.
I got a engine blow situation in the winter and that was really scary .. In the turn aroun 60 mph.
Also at my old Lancia i got the trhottle linkage broke, was no problem to control a car and take it to stop.
When actually happens both with you you will understand the difference, even if its "sounds similar problem"

The exhaust isn't the problem so much as the turbo.

I've had an engine blow while I was driving and all that happened was I lost power, it didn't lock up the tires, I didn't lose control, I just lost power.

on awd is hard to lock it up ,unless its slippery. also if your engine can still turn, it will not lock the tires. But the slowing down is still more stronger and rapid vs the engine which is idles. And without working engine all the power steering will go soon
period.

That was on a FWD car. It slowed down faster but it wasn't anymore than if I had pushed in the clutch pedal.

+1 a five speed will definitely make me consider it..
And seeing as the wrx comes only with the manual I would think that Mitsu would at least provide the option of it? Or do they want to force those people to upsell to the evo

they might even fix the SST problems and then i'm sure there will be an after market solution too for the RA in 2010.
