i think that is the reason why the thread strayed from the R/A.

I personally think that the WRX is a great purchase for the performance.
I could care less that is has more HP then the R/A.
It could have the HP of a GTR or a Lambo or whatever for all i care.

They may have updated the power and all.

But they didn't update the looks.
Too me, it's still ugly.
But that's just me.

I agree. It looks hideous. And the problem some are having with the motors just scares me even more. Glad I made the choice i did.

People will find fault in anything if they just don't want to like it. Mitsubishi owners/lovers tend to hate Subaru and vice versa.

And the problems some people are having with the transmission or engine in the Evo didn't scare you away?

No it didnt, because i've read 0 threads on engine problems. Also I dont drive on a track to get to work, and the power output is less, so overheating problems don't worry me.

See?
That is the difference with me.
I really like Subaru Imprezas and the Legacies.
Always have.
But the change to a hatchback really screwed it up for me.
That's why i test drove it so many times. To see, if i could bond with it in any shape or form. (kinda sux to say that)

But the porportions of the car just went .
And NOW i am looking at the SEMA version, it looks better but still.
It looks like a
SUPER-DUPER MAZDA SPEED 3 now.
oh well.

No offense to any new WRX owners, you got a bargain and you might dust me out on the streets.

But I will make losing to a WRX look good.

I found a few threads involving transmissions overheating, going into limp mode, shifting rough, engines leaking oil, bad tunes, etc.

The people that are saying it shifts rough are probably comparing it to an automatic transmission. How would bad tunes for an Evo X even apply to the RA? I have yet to see any fluids leaked or limp mode.

And most people don't blow their engine or have a transmission failure.

nope it's close.
And on that note,
how close are the numbers in comparison to the STI on the track?

Big difference or are the numbers close?

I also would like to see if modding the R/A, can it get up to 260 to 270hp?
That would be a modest amount of power and still have it as a DD.
I dunno.
Not too worried about it now.
More like looking years from now, in case the power of the car dissipates later on.
It's still early, I know. But the potential has been under question since the MR came out.

shut down the engine/blow it up/ or go back to idle is a big difference. Terms of slowing down.
it is slower slow down like you actually breaking. Also just depress the clutch and there you go, no sudden slowing down etc ...
it is not a real safety issue.
Still you like to talk about it. dont you?
and i still didnt really start with the Subaru issues .

the modded RA sure will be over the 260hp. easy.
I think you mean the 260 whp. But even that shouldn't be a problem. Maybe even with just a tune.

It'll have the same effect. I don't even understand why we're arguing semantics, both cars have had issues but for the most part, the issues have been restricted to a small number of cars.
