Another note is, that I think that Mitsubishi is getting real tired of being compared with Subaru. When you look at some of the factors of the new tech being introduced to each of their Mitsubishi and Subaru, although they are the same, they seem to be, IMO radically different. Look at STI vs MR for example. That really is a big difference on their target markets in a sense.

I don't think we expected for the WRX's price to go up. That would defeat the purpose of adding power in the first place. They just wanted to one-up Mitsu for obvious reasons.

I'm curious if Subaru offered the 09 WRX with a twin clutch semi auto and priced it starting the same as the RA, would everyone jump over to the subie? Even though the hatch doesn't look all that great compared to the RA sedan I would highly consider it.

^I would. I mainly care about performance. The WRX/STI look OK to me.

I can't see Subaru making a flappy paddle gearbox anytime soon.

I'd definitely be interested in a test drive at that point.

Yeah, the MR tranny sucks, while the STI tranny is bulletproof.

Yea, the VIII-IX MR tranny isn't that great under hard use (the gears are too thin due to packaging constraints) so just to clarify we're NOT talking about the NEW MR's twin-clutch box.
The new unit hasn't been tested enough outside Mitsubishi's R&D's hands or with any real HP figures to draw any conclusions as to it's long-term durability under hard use.
So who wants to be first?!

Well there's already indications the MR tranny can overheight in stop and go traffic but whether that actually says anything about its track prowess is debatable.
