SO, even a 2002 wrx has variable valve timing....

Only 08 sti has DAVCS, how about the 09 wrx???

They arent going to change anything on the car simply cuz subaru 1-uped them on the new WRX.
They are made in japan right?

Well, seems subaru did very well and mitsu couldnt do anything but watch them score. Now it the ralliart is still a success as it is, then mitsu will score double.

Why they wouldnt make any changes , is that too difficult or impossible? Someone with real knowledge answer that please.

The 2002 WRX did not have AVCS, that didn't arrive until 2006 I believe.

it would most likely be too difficult to make changes now to the first series of RA being released as they are mid production and any major changes may need new materials/parts/production methods/ etc which all takes time and money, and since mitsu has taken sooo ****ing long so far to get the RA and lost alot on sales to the MS3 and WRX and with petrol prices they cant really afford to delay anymore

if any real changes are to be done it will be with the next series, so they can also use this series as a 'test mule' to work out any major bugs/issues with the car

Meh. Not really. How long from ZR-1 announcement to release? GT-R? Camaro? (Granted the last two were new platforms, but still.)

And your proof of this is? If anything Subaru is under-representing the car like they did for the 06-07 WRX.

nice...for 25k, its lighter, more power, manual trans

common mitsu, all you gotta do is add a manual to the RA and you will have me back as a customer

I don't think Mitsubishi can do much until they release a manual model, there's no way they can price the SST-equipped version to match the WRX.

Yup, under $25K is gonna help a lot of buyers get past the looks. Not to mention all the Cobb stuff that's gonna be available to make it a better, more powerful performer using the money you saved on the purchase. I don't want to go manual again, but I might have to rethink this.

ouch
I think there was an article saying that a manual is very likely for the R/A but the price will be close to the same, regardless of the trans.
So it's either tunes the R/A in their next model or close shop.
