oh sorry. The standard tranny is not bad IX or VIII. I would say under 360 whp i never heard problems with them. From above that it start.
Most of the guys who have a problem , they are road racers or drag.
Only reason they are not as strong as the 5 speed , because the gears are skinnier then the 5 speed.
Also ,yes they are over heats too on road course.
Now this new one i guess , will be a same. I ASSUME the SS-T will hold up just fine around 360 whp with no issue and will be a BETTER transmission then the 5 speed.
Over that whp, i would go for 5 speed. Specially the new 5 speed is a more beefed up 5 speed.

I am coming from a V8 standpoint... always had mustangs/firebirds....I am seriously considering the RA, the one thing that keeps putting me off is the 2.0 liter engine. I know these things are supposed to be small displacement, boosted motors.... but 2.0 liters seems kinda wound and stressed. I like the fact that subi is using a 2.5 liter. After the news on the new WRX, I have to say I am leaning in that direction now.

You can utilize the power better because of the gearing of the 6 speed.
Over 360whp where the problem start. So there is start fading the advantage of the gearing.
Over 400 whp im sure the gearing is not that important anymore. Since you can over come that with power, which is you have then.
With the SS-T , Most people will never have over 360whp, as we can see the history of the evo in the states.
So those who commute, sitting in traffic and sometimes racing the car. The SS-T will be a better choice.
Because it is more comfortable and you will never shift like the SS-T.
Over 360 whp you start getting issues i assume, so then it is not worth the risk anymore.
So the idea is until the SS-T hold up well, the SS-T is a better tranny.
The question is how much whp and wtq can really hold strong? Maybe even more then 360 whp, you never know.
