Foggy Windows

Forgive me if this seems like a really noob question but it's driving me bonks.

Is it just me, or do the windows in the RA fog up really bad?

I did a search and saw some issues similar in the evo forum, and one in the RA (didn't wanna post in evo/ and don't want to thread jack the RA one).

I've read about some solutions
1. use rain-x anti fog wipes < - have yet to go get some. Safe on tinted windows?
2. use the a/c (with defroster button) < - done that, but don't wanna use the a/c all the time to resolve.

My issue is, during rain (heavy/light), my windows (driver/passenger/windshield) fog up like mad when i'm set at 22-25 celcius (71-77 ferenheit). When on the "windshield" or "windshield/under seat" vents, nothing helps and the air feels cool blowing out. I'm always forced to turn on the A/C so that the moisture of the air is dried out and gets rid of the fog. I don't like the idea of turning on the a/c to defog my windows, especially in winter when its cold out, i don't need a cold car either.

In my other car, i would put it on 23.5 celcius and leave it on the first air notch and no problems. But I realize RA's dont have the best heater core's and just wanted to know if service department could do anything about this (fix/replace heater core)?? Any other solutions?? What temps do you leave your stat at without a/c and experience no problems??

And yes, I do select the defogger button but that only does my back and side mirrors.

Mine is equipped with climate control and look similar to the below picture

FWIW, it's always a good idea to run the AC at least once a week to circulate the refrigerant, which contains protective agents to keep the system from corroding and leaking.

when its raining mine used to fog up really bad. I windexed the hell out of the inside of my window which eliminated most of the fogging. I do use the AC when it rains though to dry out the air completely.

Yes, keeping the windows clean both inside and out will help with some of the fogging problems. Also, in the winter when it's cold out, there's no need to use the AC to defog your windows and thus have a freezing cold cabin in your car. Heat works much better when it's cold out to keep your windows clear than AC does, plus you get the benefit of a comfortable driving temperature in the cabin.

in the winter i use heat yes lol.

But for the record, you can have the ac on and the temp at max heat. It still works. No need though.

I've kept the windows interior/exterior pretty clean. That doesn't help.

And yes, I know heat works well, but in the org. post, I've indicated mine isn't blowing out any heat! Even when I'm cranked at 26celcius there's no noticable heat, its like cold air blowing (with a/c off). I should at least feel some type of heat at 26 celcius before turning it to it's limit of 30 celcius, shouldn't I? cause i don't.

Yeah, I would have the dealer look at that problem. Sounds like your heater is busted...

Look for evidence of water leaks.

This problem seems weird to me in 2010. 90s hondas were notorious for this. I hated it in my accord during the winter. I cant imagine that ths would be a problem in such a modern car.

I'm getting it checked out by the dealership just to see if they can do something about it. Keep you posted on what they say..

I had the same problem in my dads 99 Grand AM, it only worked on full blast. That was the fan/heater electrics in behind the controls. It went usually every other year for about 10 years.

As for the fogging, make sure the car is getting air from outside. When you recirculate the air your just keeping the humidity inside. In BC there's alot of humidity from what I remember. I was having the same fogging problem this week with all the rain and if you are wet or there's water inside from just opening the door to get in, your gunna get fogging. It's the water evapourating and there's F all you can do. Rain X might do a little but just crank on the A/C for 2 minutes when you get in the car. I've noticed that the Ralliarts do a very good job of clearing the fog inside quite quickly.

Hope this helps,
