Kids at that age are extraordinarily susceptible to peer pressure. I'm sure this guys buddies were egging him on to show them what the M5 could really do. That pressure is far less severe in a car that is not perceived to be a "sports car".

Nonetheless, point taken on putting the kid in a safe car above all.

Just because a car is designed to go 155MPH does not mean it's designed to survive a wreck at that speed. Safe car is safe car. Fast car is fast car. Fast car is not necessarily safe car.
