Turbo or engine swap?

After looking into both of these options i still cant decide what to do.... the choices are a turbo kit from rpw or a 6A12 mivec (replaceing the 4G15 in my 99 GLi lancer). The mivec will give me more power, but a whole engine replacement can be rather costly and there is i higher risk that something will go wrong.... the turbo kit dosent give as much power but is cheaper and less dangerous then a whole engine replacment. So what would u guys do/recomend?? does the power increase realy justify that much money? or should i just save it and buy a better car ?

thanks for your input

I'd go engine swap.. the turbos do have more problems then engine transplants.. you gotta bit to do when you putta turbo on, and sometimes, cheaper to swap.. but they bout the same..

I wouldn't go the engine swap... the amount of extra chassis strengthening that you'll need to make it handle right again... The 6A12 is a heavy engine compared to the 4G93... Your lancer is gonna plough like a ***** with this engine swap....

The 4G92 DOHC 1.6L Mivec is a good little engine in a Mirage, anything bigger than that and it is not exactly going to be that good. It does have a power output of around 130kw but you have to rev the guts out of it to get anything at all. The torque is terrible and to be honist I can not see the value in getting one in a CE Lancer. The CE series are far more expensive and rarer than the CC series engines. Unfortunately the 4G15 SOHC 1.5L engine is never going to perform well either without a truck load of money spent on it. If I were in your situation I would enjoy the car as is for a little bit, do a few modifications if you like then upgrade to another car which either has the power there to start with or can be easily modified.

well i dunno about the 99, but for the newer lancers, RPW i think said the 6a13 or the galant vr4 engine almost bolts up and is no prob....so thats a 6 cylinder turbocharged engine in the '4banger' lancer...imagine that!!

Thats gonna be only good for a drag car with huge amounts of torque steer.....

It does fit but its super tight... make sure you don't want your legs if you run into something...

that engine is unfortunatly a AWD, so i would have to get it converted.... and thats even more expensive think i might end up doing as suggested and sell my lancer in 2 years or so and buy a GTO or something....
