How does it drive? You'd be the talk of the town!
Yeah guys,
Have any of you had a look to see which side the washer/wipers and indicator arms are on??? By the beautiful pics, I could droooool all day!!!!!!!! The black looks alright, but the YELLOW !!!!, you could see it stalking its prey from a mile away.

Picked up mine today too, certainly has far more pluses than negatives, but there are a few.
The gearbox in particular is very tight at the moment, and gears 1-4 are very closely spaced together and there is a yawning gap between 4 & 5. The ride is a bit harsher than I was expecting which makes me cringe considering I was thinking of lowering it! The seats can be a little comfortable on a long trip, as I discovered today. Maybe I was just tired......
I guess from my perspective the most disappointing thing is that the car is pretty damn bare as far as interior equipment goes, and for $70K, it's really not acceptable.
Anyway, rant over, the car looks the goods and goes very well. How well, i'm not sure yet, as i'm keeping it below 4000rpm for the first 1000kms, and 4000rpm is just where the fun starts! I'm sure when the car's drivetrain frees up a bit, i'll forget the negatives and only concentrate on the positives.

Congrats dude you must be stocked it has finally arrived. From what i have seen and read yes the interior is pretty seedy for the price. But i guess all the $$'s have gone into the likes of the drivetrain, chassis and aero devlopment and new engine.
As far as running the car in can i make a suggestion. Dont keep it below any rpm and work it really hard in the early days. To baby a brand new motor in the early stages of its life is not such a good idea. The best bet it to work it hard under heavy load and the easiest way of doing that is to use a higher gear for hills and have the engine struggle to rev out fast. The best bet is to give it short hard bursts in each gear. Letting it rev while under light load like at the lights next to habibs mums VN commodore or cruising along at high revs is bad news as it may cause glazing. Plus rods like being comressed and not stretched. On and off heavy load allows the rings to bed and also draws oil up also. Probably allowing the engine to warm up and down is pretty important also as it allows the expansion and contraction process of components to be less rapid.

With a couple of cars now picked up, how many kms did you guys have on the odo when you got them. Its not that I am really that concerned, but these cars are new to the country and the temptation is there for unwanted persons to drive them before we get them, something I am sure we would all like to avoid.
Another thing....one of the cars I saw at the Eastern Creek dealer day had carbon fibre (look-a-like?) trim on the doors and in place of the blue trim strips on the dash and it looked out of this world - sort of an M3 CSL finish. Anyone heard about availabilility of this to make the interior look a bit classier and what it might cost?
Regards

"apparently"...and i say apparently because there have been alot of these about the evo8 lately, but there was a memo sent out to the dealers to say that no people are to drive any of the lancer evolutions except for moving in the yard. My s15 when i got it had 8kms on it.
The CF interior as i understand is an option. o idea of the pricing or availability yet. PS..anyone just see the 'carshow' on chan9?? Had a preview of the evo8 with glenn ridge.

Damn dude!! I was wanting to see the GTP as well but got dudded by the cricket also. They didn't really say much that we dont know anyway, but some of the pics and footage was cool. They talked a little about the 'evolution' of the evo and the philosophy behind the car which was interesting. Would have been nice to see them put it through its paces instead of cruising around.

I know our cars here in Perth have to jump between different locations to get different checks on them. Also ours have to go over the pits as they are a low volume import. SO I'd expect about 50kms on the clock

Yeah the interior looks very very BARE!!!! Especially compared to the new STI coming out next month which looks sensational!
I have already ordered my new stereo deck, more for the looks than the sound. Got to try and dress it up a little. Also I will change the central console LED lights to red so they match the dash. Should look a little nicer then too.

When we talked to the dealer about the bare interior all they could say was that we were lucky compared to the TME 6.5 where the car was heaps more $$$ and the interior was heaps worse - which is true.
All the reviews state in comparision to the STI the Evo completely falls down in driver comfort and asthectics. Hopefully they drive well. Actually I am sure they are better than the STI.
On the sat system, my dealer told me yesterday that they are over a month away as there are more delays on getting the parts from Japan.
Keep them close to you at all times guys!
