Evo8DownUnder: Confirm that certain parts are missing from alarm system and that those parts are still in Japan. Dealer in Adelaide is allowing us to pick up the cars and get the alarm bits fitted later - due to lower risk here in Adelaide. Risk, yes, but after 6 months I can't wait any longer...

I have been advised from the dealer that in addition to the $85 when you call Intellitrac there is an annual $300 subscription that Mitsu is planning to make the car owner pay for - I know this is contrary to what has been published in magazines however this has been advised to me by the Dealer last night (another surprise). Any updates on whether this is consistant across other states?

Regarding those adverts - I agree Ed does look a little sad pleading for the public to consider a 4wd rally magna. I would really like to see the other add with FF and GT4 clips...

Well i had the option of a silver one this week or the yellow in august so i decided on the yellow. Another suprise i was told is that ALL cars in victoria will have leather seats. So much for it being an optional extra....

Gazzza: My order is with Zupps Mt Gravatt, mind you I taking every thing that I am told with a large dose of doubtfullness untill I see it in the flesh at the dealership here in Brisbane. I am afraid as far as I am concearned these Mitsubishi dealers are about as truthfull as a politician at election time.

^^ mate couldn't possibly agree with you more. All i want is the car and to leave all that behind.

Got these pics from the melbourne motorshow sent to me by a mate. Never liked the silver as much as the other colours but this actually looks good

Just called the dealer (Adelaide), they have the red EVO in and I have seen it and now a silver EVO has arrived. My black EVO has still not arrived!!!! Hopefully when the dealer calls back today it is with good news....this waiting is killing me...

Oh yeah as far as deals go re good faith for the waiting ie some goodies thrown in like mats and strut base, conversations continue however it is looking unlikely, thought so but still wanted to give it a go. Quite frankly I'm looking forward to getting the car and getting outa there, hopefully dealing with the service department will be a much better experience...

From a collegue in the WRX community. I think this is the same guys that got his Evo and went to QLD as that is where this car is now.

The last I heard was that the owner did have a modded 6.5 TME (i think) and says that the 8 handles quite a bit better.

Also on other news, the new 05 model STI is coming out DCCD and a form of yaw control - to line up with the Evo. I wonder why this happened?

Mate got his yellow 8 on Friday, only had 50kms on the clock so bit hard to tell but they don't feel that bad.

They bring power on very smooth no huge kick in the back. Was bit hard to test handling, but so far sticks like glue and very little road noise compared to his old 6.

Interior in my opionon (and the owners) is pretty ****, its blue which is weird with a yellow car. Also still looks pretty cheap and the dials on the dash are like the new STi, tacho in centre, 270kmh speedo on left, fuel temp etc. on right.

One cool feature is it has auto water spray not sure what triggers it yet but it beats manual mode. Stereo is a half decent eclipse and sounds 10 times better than the stock STi sound system, but its no comp stereo.

Headlights are awesome, they are a projector style HID, and highbeam is a seperate lens ala bugeye STi's, and they are fcking bright.

Most people wouldn't care but there is heaps of rear leg room in the the 8 compared to the 6. Engine bay looks almost identical, but the FMIC is noticeably taller than the old one.

Anyway all in all very nice car, feels slow compared to a 6 running 18psi but then again youd expect that with stock boost at 0.9bar and an extra 2-300 kgs

The difference in feel is like the difference between a bugeye and classic it feels heavier and more solid. The proof will be its lap times around wakefield, expect to see it at the rexnet track day in August
