Evo 8 News as Of 3/6/04
Although I thought that the 2004/05 USA model was basically the same as ours but for less, I was wrong.
The new release comes with-out ACD, SAYC, Sports ABS and EBD just to name a small amount. The stereo is even worse than ours - by a long shot.
Their upcoming release of the MR (un-priced and un-confirmed as of yet, although they have started taking deposits - sound familiar?) does have all the bits that we do. The differnce to our cars generally are:
Blisten Suspension set, alum roof, slightly larger turbo (the USA figures spec their MR as only 10HP more powerful than the Standard evo), the 6 speed box and the climate control.
They had to wait 2 years until this release, so don't feel too bad. By this time the next import to aus may well be the Evo IX or X.
And we can only imagine the price for the MR here is our Evos are that much more in standard form
I'd say up into the $80-90k drive away price. Speculation only I may add.
Go team Yellow Evo! (might as well start now)

What also you think about is the fact that we are getting the euro spec not the Jap spec or US Spec, becuase of saftey regulations mainly. So unless the new IX or MR cover aus spec regulations or euro get MR version, then i dont think we will be getting it to soon!
$1495.00 dealer delivery. Not bad!

strut bar $560.00 + gst
earthing cables $350.00 + gst
lock nuts $165.00 + gst
Hope that's 'fitted' with the strut bar.

Did they tell you if they'd installed before pick-up or on first service?
$1495 dealer deivery, who is getting it at that price? Is that a Sydney price?
Rmm Rmm: what have you been quoted as dealer delivery? As they told me it is $2995.
Grrrrrr Thats a huge price difference.
I also signed up in december 03, 17th of december 2003 at 4pm to be more accurate :-) Also with a $5k deposit.

300477: I have go the same delivery cost ie $2.9K. At the time I thought it was a bit steep but had nothing to compare it too - with regards to some of the other comments I think there is room for some bargaining ie free mats and a revisit of the dealer deliver (especially if we are going to buy some accessories). However I can't help think that we are not in great bargaining position ie if we don't want the car they know someone who does...
By the way what colour is your car 300477..?

Aston
I think bargaining will be tough work as its all about supply and demand. This time demand exceeds supply. Dealer delivery was about $1980 i think. What is tyhe killer is the stamp duty!!! I cant believe its over $3000!! Registration i can handle cause of TAC cover and the car is acknowledged on the data base, DD is semi-ok cause its detailed ect, but what does stamp duty get you!??? A mega tax. Plus the car is a "luxury vehical"
BTW, friend i spoke to last night reckons he sore a yellow evo VIII in bayswater VIC?? Unless its a dealers car. I have a feeling this time next week will be D day!!!!

Just want to let you guys know that im pretty sure the dealers have already, as of today(as it is July), broken a warranty of the contract for delivery date, as June was the latest date stated on all information they have given me when i agreed. Any solicitors out there?? hehehhe.
So they should be giving us something to make up for that!!! But whatever!

of course) as his run-around at the moment. As for next week being D-Day, i am more inclined to think it's at least 2 weeks away yet.
A far better version of Holden Assist according to Intellitrac. I know very little about Holden Assist do I can't speculate any further as to the similarities or differences.
The alarm system and tracker does include a siren, flashing blinkers, and that cute little chirp when you activate/deactivate the alarm, so i'm sure it will look cool.
The tracker works as follows: Included in the retail price of the car is three years free monitoring of the tracking system, with the user only paying a nominal $85 fee IF you notify Intellitrac that the car has been stolen and you want it tracked. I was told the little receiver box on the car is VERY well hidden and would be difficult even for the owners to find. It aint under the dash, I know that much!
After the three years, it costs about $300 per year (nothing, really) to stay registered with them.

The following are the features of Holden Assist by Intelematics:
Holden Limited has partnered with Intelematics Australia for the delivery of telematics service in Australia. Holden is the Australian division of General Motors, recognised as a world leader in the provision of telematics services. In Australia, telematics services are promoted under the brand 'Holden Assist' (in America, General Motors has adopted the 'Onstar' brand).
Outcomes and Benefits
The benefits to the driver are enormous:
-If keys are locked in the car, Holden Assist can validate the owner then unlock the car.
-If the battery is low, or an airbag deploys, the system will send an alert.
-If roadside assistance is required, on the press of a button the car is located and assistance deployed.
In an emergency, the driver presses the SOS button to speak with the Telematics Assistance Centre, where staff will locate the car and send emergency services if required.
-If an airbag is deployed, the system will notify the Telematics Assistance Centre, who will attempt to speak with the driver – if there is no response, emergency services will be notified.
-If a person tries to gain unauthorised entry, the system contacts an operator, who will make voice contact to identify the owner.
-If the car is stolen, Holden Assist can locate and track the car, and working with police, safely immobilise the engine.
I think these are pretty cool!! The evo should come with all these!!!
