UPDATE:

Ok guys so I had posted a question in the dyno tuning and results and asked if anyone had compared their 1/4 track runs to what the AP said... while waiting to see if anyone would respond I remembered that I have a friend ... a very rich friend actually who has a very long, flat, blacktop entrance to his house. It's probably close to a half mile.

To the mods... since this isn't being around other cars and is a private lane that is gated, if you want to remove this post feel free and I apologize, but I wasn't sure if this was considered breaking the rules.

I call my other friend who goes with me sometimes to help me compare and give his input on things. I admittedly have never made a 1/4 mile run and since he has done many passes in his life I decided to give Cobb's performance data a little test and let him conduct it.. with me in the car of course

The results:

Since he knows how VERY **** I am we went through 3 total runs down this lane. First run was for him to feel the car out and came out pretty bad .. I didn't write it down but I can tell you it was a 15.2... but hey.. it's a first run.

Second run was a bit better... managed a 14.078

Then the third run came out the best @ 13.570 @ 105.657 with a 0-60 time of 4.968 seconds

A few things to keep in mind :

The best time I have read a stock GSR run was a 13.6.
I was in the car.. I am 170 lbs.. so maybe a tenth or 2 could have been shaved off.
This was my friends first ever time making a run in an Evo or any AWD car.
The car was not really launched, the clutch was slipped a bit and the run was rather conservative with the clutch.

I realize that many may pass this off as it isn't hard data on paper and was done with the AP, but also keep in mind the situation and understand that we could be talking a total of 4-5 tenth's being shaved off of this time at a real track between the added weight and being more aggressive with the clutch.

Oh yeah, and he, like I, also commented on how the rpm's came up so fast in 2nd he wasn't expecting it.

I just installed my AP, it was extremely easy and in my opinion made the car feel like should have from the factory. I'm sure I'm making more power but maybe more important then that is how the power delivery is so much better much more linear and it pulls cleanly to redline now. The Cobb AP really transforms the car. It makes me think that the manufacturers are building the cars right but after tuning them for cafe standards they are really detuned and a simple tune sets them right again.

I'm planning on a custom tune with a turbo back Perrin system and Cobb CAI, but the AP itself has been most impressive. If you only do one thing to your car this will probably be the best bang for your buck out there.

I got the AP from Perrin for $600 because there always having sales there.

Got a free Perrin Stage 3 Map with Accessport purchase.

Bought their FMIC, Drop in Filter, and Downpipe w/Hiflo Cat. Then finished it off with BR Catback

With just the offshelf map no custom tailoring to it iam doing 302awhp/302awtq on a mustang dyno @ 24.4 psi. Peaked 302 @ 6500 and only droped to 292-293 by 7429. Torque peaks at 3550 @302 and holds 302awtq all the way to 4500. It was basically a straight line across there for the torque from 3500-4500. Perrin has been letting me test out map revisions. So far i Started with Stage3v1 which did 298-301, but was having fuel cut problems with to much Load, and the p0420 cel. Then Jeff let me try out a aggressive stage 3 map which didnt work out to well did 298/298 and ran lean(was only for testing purposes). Then i got Stage 3v2 fixed the Load problems, fixed the cel, and the boost spiking. Which in the end the revised Stage 3 map did 302/302 after doing several runs on the dyno beforehand.

Perrin has awesome customer service, Jeff and Chris have been helping me alot and havent charged me a dime more for it. There very helpful and will fix any problems you have asap.

#1 Solid Line is Stage 3v2
#2 Short Dotted Line is Stage 3v1
#3 Long Dotted Line is Stage 3 Aggressive

So what sort of numbers do you expect with a custom tune?

AP users and boost monitor limitations removed....

I just wanted to say I have opened up the Evo X AP flash to allow reading of boost higher than 22-24PSI depending on your location.

We will be releasing this in an update here in the next while.

Thanks,

What does this mean? When logging you'll get the true boost number that the ECU is reading?

And is this just an AP upgrade (not flash upgrade)?

I think this is how it works. The ECU reads the analog signal coming from the MAP sensor and uses a formula to determine PSI. The conversion was maxing out at around 36.98 absolute psi. The AP was looking at this parameter when reporting boost.

Im guessing the updated AP looks at the signal and does the conversion itself.

The AP has been reading Abs. Pressure from the ECU which is using the output of the MAP sensor. During the conversion the ECU was capping internal use of that sensor to ~36psi abs. We have raised that cap allowing reading of Abs. Pressure to the full extent of the sensor.

Once the update is available, it will require a reflash of the ECU given that is where the bottle neck is located.

Can we depend on the AP for boost reading? how accurate is it compared to an ordinary boost gauge?
