Wow measuring accurate boost from the AP is yet another selling feature in a long list of selling features for the AP.

I was planning on getting boost and A/F guages on my Evo before starting the mod game, but AP is just making this too easy now . . .

So is this a firmware update or a map update (sounds like firmware update)? If firmware update, then why would we need to flash a new map on since this fix is only for reading boost on the AP?

Because the ECU could not determine the pressure in that range, and a modification to the ECU code is required to allow for reading the full pressure from the MAP sensor.

Cobb Stage 1, plus intake...??

Guys I'm planning on picking up the AP here in the next couple days but am deciding on getting an intake now as well. Can i run the AP stage 1 (no exhaust, totally stock car) plus the intake? Or will i need a tune in order to run an intake with it?

And along a similar line, if i got an intake and held off on the AP for a month or so, would I ok to drive without any tune at all?

Thanks in advance...

You need a tune with a intake, otherwise you will run too lean and might cause damage.

wait until you have both the AP and the intake. bring it to an install shop, have both installed, and get a custom tune (protune) and you'll be set.

If Cobb themselves are taking time to tune a specfic map with different intakes I would say it is safe to assume running an intake with the off the shelf stage one AP tune you speak of isn't a good idea.

The main issue with the intake is it changes the size of the MAF housing which can and will lean out the car. The AP base stage one tune leans out the car as well, so to be safe don't do it.

This is one thread on this subject but there are many more.

So am i correct in assuming that running an intake with out a tune is ok, but with a stage 1 AP (that is not one of these updated tunes) it's not ok? I want to get an intake but am deciding on whether i need to wait until these updates come out or if i can get one ahead of my AP purchase...
