If you have more modifications, the only negative trying to find a tuner that is able to tune a COBB AP in the race and pro modes. Not the prepackaged maps.

Price, interface, and end user map depth limitations take the AP off the table for me.

I think the AP is more for someone who wants to buy a nice all in one solution, but cannot or does not want to self-tune.

Yep...

The Perrin "off the shelf" Stage one tune allows you to run an aftermarket drop-in air filter.

I bought my Cobb AccessPort through Perrin, and I've run both Stage 1 93 octane tunes (Cobb & Perrrin). The Perrin Stage 1 tune feels stronger, but I don't know if it's attributed to the fact that it allows for the use of my HKS drop-in air filter.

not to bring a thread back from the dead but...

i flashed back to the cobb stage 1v101 map yesterday after updating everything. i got to say first thing i noticed was how quiet the engine is especially around 75-80mph where it is the loudest. there is a noticeable power difference. you can feel the added hp but lacking the torque the perrin tune has. and the peak torque comes in around 4k rpms like when stock. also there is a ton of rev hanging now which is annoying but is likely related to resetting the learned parameters of the ecu. i also did some logging. no knock retard values at all with hard driving and normal daily driving.

I have had my AP for about a month or so, and I have nothing bad to say about it at all. Some people are saying it cost alot, and it does obviously. However, it is important to note that these things hold their value extremely well. If you ever get tired of it or want a different tune you should be able to get back 75% of the cost without a problem.

Being able to switch maps in 20 seconds is great, and I have not had any issues with any CEL's at all.

Q: When running the 91 or 93 octane map, is it safe to use along with octane booster?? I know the maps have a specific octane, but would this be conflicting?? I just got mine today, but the current tank of gas has 90 with octane booster. Should I just wait for the tank to run out and then flash??

It's always good to get feed back. Can you explain who has a better depth of maps? It is true that we cover the base 90% case of maps and are working on intake maps. Think about the number of maps that would need to be produced covering all the combination of parts available. Your resources would have to me massive. We're a small engineering firm.

What would you like to see changed in our interfaces? I'm happy to bring it up with the team.

The AP gives the ability to self tune and store multiple maps on the device to flash anytime the user would like. Say you are running E85 and can quite get to another E85 station. Another scenario would be traveling across the country where the fuels are constantly changing grade. Whip out the AP and flash a gasoline based map for the proper fuel being run.

The AP covers a wide breath of users from the basic flash and go to the guy tuning a custom big turbo setup on alternative fuels.

Thanks for the help and feedback,

As long as the octane booster is upping the octane to the level specified by the map being run. There are only a few octane boosters readily available (Autozone, Checker, etc.) that up the octane level 10 points (1 octane) or more per bottle. Make sure you read the label carefully.

Thanks,

My wife gets 23-25mpg reg. and we havent installed the cobb yet. Im curious to see if I can get 26-27 out of it. The 23-25 mpg is hilly roads too at around 45-55 mph speed limit.

Air Fuel Ratio Question w/ Accessport

I have an access port and am installing a new map. When reading the map notes it talks about ensuring that the car is within an Air Fuel Ration of +/- .4 of the graph they show.

My question is, what live data output am I looking at for this number? I don't see a specific one for A/F. Do it need to take 2 values and to the math myself?

Thanks!

Gullie

expect less with a tune because the turbo spools a lot more frequently plus you'll be on it more often.

Today I installed the 91oct stg 1 map on my X MR and all I can say is WOW! The car is more responsive thru the rpm range, the turbo deff spools more and the previous non-existent wastegate now queues in when it should. The car is a joy to drive now and this is deff the way it should have felt from factory.

only 1 negative about the flash.... kinda hard to go slow now hahaha

I'm new to the ap, but I was wondering if the ap could control the boost through the oem ecu in the same manner as evoflash?

Also, I work in Abiline which has only 91 octane, but ultimately live (homeowner) in Converse/San Antonio which has 93; do I need 2 different custom tunes or would one suffice?
