ECM reflash

So I just got the ECM reflash letter but I bought my car with an AP protune...unfortunately I do not have the OEM map. Would I be ok to take it in for the reflash and use the AP to back up the new flash? I have the protune backed up already.

If you have a pro tune no need to go for a reflash.

Right, I understand that my tune is good...just would kind of be nice to have an OEM flash backed up.

You do not need the ecm reflash. I have a buddy that works for Mitsubishi and runs the service dept. He said all that flash is for is the stock idling and it will kick out your tune and that he recommends to refuse that service. Also there are two other recalls clutch master cylinder and the head lights

I'll start by saying that I have a lightly modded car that can run on stock tune and would like to have the update. I'm getting the AP today or tomorrow and I will have to visit the dealer in the next couple of months..

That said.. for those of us that want to get the update but still run the cobb tunes afterward you would have to reset back to stock before going in for service correct?

Also is there a way to back up the new Mitsubishi tune on the AP for returning the car to stock or once your stock tune is written it is married to the unit?

Thanks!

Whenever you install an AP it will read out your OEM calibration and store it on the AP, when you uninstall it will return your car to whatever it originally read. As long as the AP is installed the Mitsubishi Factory tool cannot install a new flash. So if you uninstall and go get the new recall reflash and then install the AP again it will read your new recall calibration and store it on your AP.

So the AP basically detects Mitsubishi's calibration and automatically backs it up. As long as I uninstall the unit it will be as if I were starting from zero next time I go to update the tune. That's pretty cool but has anyone tried installing an AP with the latest Mitsubishi calibration yet? were there any issues?

Thanks!
