Question How are you launching?

I have a evo VIII and i'm hitting the 1/8th mile track around here in about 6 weeks. i have drag launched my car before slipping it till a point then droping it(note: i have a ACT clutch). worked out very well so far havent broke all four tires loose like that but i've had real good take offs against v8 stangs with toyo ra-1's(?). But my question is how is everyone launching? because the way i'm launching i think contributed to my broken front diff..

Have you tried to feathering out the clutch??? That was the way Al from Dynoflash showed me how to launch my evo.

If you are serious about launching/dragging, then send your ECU to Al or somebody to add the 2-step... that takes 1/2 of the thinking out of it, you don't have to worry where your RPMs are...

Launch at 5.5K-6K.. Once you get the revs up there beyond 5.25K you're pretty much good to launch.. You can almost dump it.. slight slip..

exactly what he said.

I revv. mine up anywhere from 5-6. And do what I call a fast feathering. Just let it out at a moderately quick pace while adding throttle then release.

If you don't have launch control, then like this:

12.26 on 93oct
Warrtalon's 12.000

If you DO have launch control, then like this:

6k 2-step

So if you have that launch control you can just floor it with the clutch in and the engine won't blow up? What could happen and what couldn't happen from doing this? Im sure theres down falls to it and Im sure theres good things too. Could someone tell me?

I haven't found any downfalls with the 2 step. I pulled a 1.61 60' and that was on all season tires! You just floor it.......slip the clutch quickly and your off. I hardly got any burnt clutch smell, compared to when I launched without the 2 step.

Probably a stupid question BUT.....I have a TurboTrix flash, is there any way to leave everything the way it is but have the 2-step added?

I'm sure that Al could add the 2 step for you without changing anything else.
