The potential is definitely there.

Well, that 'RWD thing' is mine, and since we weren't bracket racing I took my time taking off from the light, I was working on my launches, not my ET's

I think I pulled a 1.96 60' time, not as good as the Evo but my Camaro has 2.73 gears (read: 30mpg) in the back. I did make up the lost ground rather quickly

And this may be the third "gayest" comment.

Silencer was posting his times to show the potential of the EVO... and that it can run some awfully good times. He didn't sit there and brag that he was out smoking this guy or that guy.. Simply commented that he beat a few different types of cars and also admitted that he got beat by a few others. Just giving us a picture of what the drag went like.

So save us all the annoyance of yet another thread on this site where people argue about who's ***** (quarter mile times, 0-60s, slaloms, engine, turbo, etc) are bigger and look at that fact that the Evo had some good runs.

Every car is going to have different acceleration patterns relative to the gearing and the displacement and power bands. That's why some high torque cars will run 1/4's at say 13 seconds and 105 mph and some others will run 1/4's at 13 seconds and 100 mph.

And if you actually watch the video you can see that the Camaro doesn't jump off the line immediately. You can also see that his time was good as well. SOOOO.... moot point guys... two fast cars.

So no offense to anyway... but grow up or go take your matchbox cars out to the sandbox and then argue about it. There is enough of these pissing matches on the board already. Keep the thread on topic.

Beat up on a modded WRX (13.28 @106, his best)
I don't see how you "beat up" this one...
Not to question you but, it appears he had you on this one..right?

I just screwed around with a WRX and those litle ****ers are faster than I thought..

We never raced side by side if that's what you're refering to. His best was a 13.28 @ 106 and I had a 13.26 with my best being a 13.185. Or are you talking mph? Maybe I used a wrong choice of words, would "went quicker" instead of "beat up on" work better. There is no question WRX's are fast, I was only describing my day at the races and not to belittle any car out there. In comparison I also said I was eaten up by a few too.

I went to the Dragway today (family of 4) and now I believe I hold the record for 60', ET, and MPH . I broke in the car very very mildly as instructed by Mitsu, I've always used 93 Mobil/ Shell/ Amoco fuel, I have 1000 miles on the OD, and everything else was untouched as it came from the factory. I made 5 runs but I will only show 4 (missed second gear on my third run, totally my fault, not the trans). Also as a side note, I was trying different launch techniques and shift points to find the sweet spots, so they won't be too consistant.

1st run:
60' 2.002
330' 5.756
1/8 8.826
mph 81.64
1000' 11.480
1/4 13.690
mph 104.02

2nd run:
60' 1.841
330' 5.444
1/8 8.461
mph 82.56
1000' 11.092
1/4 13.289
mph 104.56

3rd run: missed second but still ran a 13.768@ 100.34mph
4th run:
60' 1.776
330' 5.406
1/8 8.410
mph 81.88
1000' 11.003
1/4 13.185
mph 102.17

5th run:
60' 1.742
330' 5.406
1/8 8.435
mph 81.21
1000' 11.058
1/4 13.261
mph 101.87

My day at the track.
Best shift points: 6800-6900 rpm
Leave the air filter in the factory air box, lost mph with it out. (possibly too much air)
I never power-shifted just shifted quick and I short shifted the 1-2 at 6400-6600 for best 60'
Spray was on auto (manual through 4th did not help)

Beat up on a modded WRX (13.28 @106, his best), Cobra (high 13's), modded Civic Si (mid 14's- 15's), SVT truck, Camaro's, modded 240SX, etc. but got ate up by a 500hp (stock looking) beautiful blue Cobra (mid 12's @ 116+) and a SVT truck (low 12's @117, claimed to run 11.97 best).

For a reference, I have been in the Drag Racing scene for almost 19 years so this is my thing. If I pull a half dozen 1/4 mile racing tricks out of my sleeve (keeping it stock and no bolt on's), I know I could pull a 12.99 at 106-107mph or better out of my EVO. Unfortunately, I'm not really interested in doing that anytime soon because I would like to try my luck at local Solo II autocross events.

I also want to mention that 5 runs isn't enough to test what the EVO (4G63) may like or dislike on a Dragstrip. From my track experience, I just had a little head start. Good luck EVO lovers.

Oh by the way, I'm no light-weight, 6'3", 205lbs.
Hey whats up did you go to new england drag way???..by any chance. If u did i heard about u...My cousins were there. The blue cobra was his that did 12's the svt if it was a lightning is my friends silver one right??....just checkin

I was at New England Dragway last night. There was one Evo there. It was black. I think it was running 13.6s. Traction was awful.

Boston'sEVO: Sorry, it was at Mid-Michigan Motorplex in Stanton, Michigan about 60 mins. north of Grand Rapids. The truck was a black SVT Lightning with some wide sticky's on the back not silver.

A combination of drag and autocross (Solo II). These are National events so unfortunatly, they are far and few between. We have one coming up in Michigan and I hope to be there.

I want to thank everyone for their positive comments. This website is addicting!

Oh, by the way, if you see an EVO review article in the West Michigan Region SCCA Newsletter, that would be mine
Well, you have a ProSOLO right in your neighborhood. Check ProSolo link for Oscoda!!

Pro solo sounds fun. Any requirements or licences for those type of events? Unfortunally a corvette ZR1 with hoosiers would match our 1.7 sec 60 ft

big congrats man, you've got skill and a good car to back it up.

Motor Trend claimed a quarter mile of 13.0 in their big comparison, but never mentioned actually making the run. I don't know if they estimated it, or actually pulled it off - but if they did, it'd be with a serious ringer driver.
