I just want to ask another newb question..... I've found multiple threads saying E85 is fine to run at 12:1 especially during spool up because much richer than that causes rich knock.... but I really need to know if there is danger in running 12:1 out for then entire powerband.

Lastly .... I've been tossing timing at my midrange and still don't think I've hit MBT.... I'd like to post my timing numbers at specific RPMs to see if they pass the smell test.

4000 - 4* - 311 LOAD
4500 - 5*
5000 - 7*
5500 - 10*
6000 - 11*
6500 - 14*
7000 - 16* - 276 LOAD

Does this look OK according to what most of you are running? Like I said I'm nervous to add any more timing at 5500 and above. This is on an EF2 turbo stock 9 cams 26PSI dropping to 22PSI.

Looks pretty reasonable. What rpm does the turbo reach the torque plateau? I would have thought it would be around 3500 rpm. Are you tuning on the road? If yes, my experience is that road tuning does not yield as repeatable results as on the dyno. If you've got the rest of your tune dialed, I suggest reserving a dyno for an hour and doing some timing sweeps to find MBT.

12:1 across the board is fine. E85 has a much wider 'happy zone' for AFR than does gasoline. I've seen others safely run from 11-13:1 and live to tell about it. Stick with the 12:1, you'll be just fine.

I think your timing is still low. You are not likely to be at MBT yet.

Those timing numbers look pretty decent to me but still a little mild. Fyi, I'm running 3 degrees advance at peak torque to 18 degrees advance at 7500 on my fp black at 25 psi. I think it will actually take more timing, but I haven't had a chance to throw it on the dyno.

Thank you for the quick replies! You all are very helpful! The ef2 hits peak tq at 4k. I don't want to smoke the bottom end so timing is tame down low. I'm road tuning and do not have a great place to tune. Maybe a dyno is the hot ticket now.

Id love to see more timing maps from similar sized turbo cars.

Smaller 9.8 turbine, bigger tanabe downpipe(my GSR260 have small cat here originaly)+decat pipe. Stock mufflers. And HKS style intake+filter. Injectors 750cc due E85, load set around 220 peak to 170 at limiter.

Just asking for some good " map, to inspirate. Now runing simply + 2degs.

Just made the switch. From my understanding E85 tuning is different from pump gas tuning. You can't just increase timing until knock. Anyways here is my timing map. Is it too advanced in the midrange?

AFR ~ 12.1 WOT by redline

Car feels great and pulling strong. Just want to know if I'm doing internal damage I cannot see. Thanks guys!
