Oil Consumption with E85

autocrossed for the first time with my E85 tune, plenty of soot on the back trunk lid and the oil level was definitely down to around the 3/4 mark from close to full. anyone noticed severe oil consumption issues during autocross or track day duty? whats is average? Thanks.

I do not see the same kind of sooty mess on the trunk when I autocross with the pump gas (93) tune ...

I've been using Ethanol for 7+ years in my cars and haven't noticed any difference in oil consumption compared to pump gas.

What kind of AFR are you running?

Are you running significantly higher boost on your E85 tune?

It sounds like you are pressurizing the crank case and pushing oil through the motor. i don;t think it has anything to do with e85. Did you check to make sure you don't have a vacuum line missing somewhere?

Never had an issue with oil consumption on any e85 car I've owned especially Evo. Issue might be elsewhere. Did you have oil consumption issue on pump gas auto crossing the car?

+1. pushes oil past the shaft seals for some turbos.

I have an 03' and tracked it heavily for years on E85. To this day, it still does not leak a drop of oil between changes. Lucky I guess?

I havent had any issue like this with e85. I assume you are running a higher boost with the e85? Maybe you are getting some blow-by past your rings?

What turbo are you running? It could be burning some oil up if its under heavy use also.

IMO Autocross in general burns more oil because you will have your engine oil slushing around the engine like crazy and more will get stuck in oil rings and other places.
