I run the same map just with more advance above 6000 and higher load, but with 30's across the board in place of the 28's and it seems to work great. I had to reduce timing one degree just after peak load at spool up as I began getting some 1-2 knock counts in that area, approx 4000 rpm.

currently using this map with no knock at WOT (not yet tested on track) - AFR between 11 redline and 12.5

any idea on possible improvement in the 6000-7500 area?

Here's the map I made from 3 maps I have tried. Thanks to the first poster for the mivec early advance idea! I found alot of knock with your advance in the 5000 rpm + and 200 + load areas. So I reduced the advance to the RS map spec in those areas. So far this one seems good. The spool up is much improved over the stock map and the JDM RS maps, better by 500 to 1000 rpm

My Mods:

50 trim
halman boost controller
3" exhaust
PTE 880's
K&N Drop in
Wet 50 shot nitrous for spool up
6 puck ceramic 3200 lbs clutch
Rebuilt Trans with updated synchros
91 octane

With that much advance down low (below 100 load), don't be surprised if you get a CEL for too much intake cam advance (P0011).

I have been running a map similar to this (I posted it in this thread) for a long long time and I have yet to get a CEL. I have three other Evo 9s running the same map and not one of them have triggered the P0011 code.

Try my map on the cars that you are tuning and your customers will be blown away by the low end pull on this map.

guys is it safe to use one of these mivec maps with no wideband? is checking for knock sufficient when tuning with mivec changes?

Using more aggressive MIVEC timing down low, I've seen two cars throw the P0011 code. One kept throwing it right away (within 10 minutes of driving), and the other took nearly 4 months to trigger. It seems that some cars are just more sensitive to this type of advance. (Yes, I verified that the CAS sensors were installed properly on both cars and that the valve timing was properly set.)

Scott, werent those cammed cars though? I think that might be some of the problem as incorrect as that sounds. I have run since last year with various states of aggressive advance and have yet to throw the P0011 yet. I know we talked about it some already, but I think it might just be a fluke. What version of ROM are those cars on as that might be some of it as well? Maybe in the quest to fix the P0304 they made an issue throwing the P0011? The only other time I have heard of issues with that code were Vishnu tuned cars and the ridiculous 33* advance (30* range remember) that is in the MIVEC. I always thought that the was the reason they threw it though maybe there were additional factors.

Yes, both of the cars to which I'm referring were IXs using version 15 ROMs and had Cosworth cams. It's possible that the cams have something to do with this -- I hadn't thought of that. I do know, though, that you can't go too far on the low load (<100) advance with this particular configuration without throwing the P0011 code.

NJ, thanks for the first part of my map. I did rip it off from your post. The last part is just the jdm mivec. It seems to run best without knock for me. I have not got any codes from this mod yet. The car runs better than it ever has with this map. I wonder if negative numbers can retard the cam for high rpm??

hey guys if you really want to dile in a vvt map for your tune do some logs with every thing set to 0, then 10*, then 20*, then 30*(of course not to low in the rpm and load cells for the 20* and 30*). but do this and see were you are getting your best tq output and then you best hp out put. then use the first part of the JDM RS map for progression and build from there. i gained about 15 wtq over Jestr mivec map he put on my car. i found that 30* starting around 2500 and 0* by redline turned the best results. i only spent about a day of tweeking to get the one i have now and there still is always room for improvement.

This is along the lines of a standard TTP-Engineering Eflash tune's MIVEC mapping.

NJ, are there any other changes you would make to the map when using with 93 octane?

NJ, did you update the map in the post above yet ? To rid the high idle RPM and whatever other issues you had with it?

Just use 0's in load 10-20 and rpm 500-1000 and it will not have idle issues.
