This one gets rid of the idle issues, but throttle response it is not as snappy. To me the idle issue is a none issue. 800-1000 rpm is fine by me. I put a red rectangle around the area that I changed to eliminate the idle issue.

That's the MIVEC map I'm currently using

Which map were you comparing it to when you said that throttle response wasn't as snappy?

Thanks

Notice that in the top left hand corner the numbers are higher than the ones in the map that you quoted.

I am running the JDM MIVEC map right now and it has been good.

I have a Cat back with a manual boost controller with 93 oct gas i am wondering if there is a better map like the one posted above that will work better then the JDM map.

I have EVOscan and can watch for knock i thought i would just ask before i tried it out.

^^ There are several updated maps posted in this forum. I dyno'd back to back the JDM RS to the NJ map and picked up 10wtq running the more aggressive map.

As for boost vs mivec. Boost doesn't really mean much. Airflow means everything. You can have less boost and make more power simply because the motor is more efficient. Here is a dyno of a full bolt on cammed EVO8 vs my EVO9 with aggressive MIVEC. He ran more boost and held more boost longer but still make less power except for the area above 7k rpm.

yeah i understand that it is all about air in air and transfer of energy as fast as possible

I was more or less asking if i ran this aggressive Mivec map if there was anything besides knock i should watch for on just a cat back system.

Oh and a k&n panel filter too

No. I am running the same thing. TBE and a flash with ECUFlash controlling boost.

No problems with the aggressive mivec.

Put some of the latest developments into testing today... I'm very glad I did.

My old VVT had gradual decrease down to 4.8 at redline. I was a little dubious, but willing to try the method of a more harsh reduction at 6500. Here's my new VVT map, and I'm very satisfied:

^^^
Glad to see that my hybrid map is getting used and producing power.

It seems that those who are running on 93 octane are able to advance the cam timing above 6000 rpm w/o knocking. I could not do that on 91 octane gas.

I just wanted to make sure i would not have any problems because of the Stock down pipe and Cat.

I will try the NJ map first and then we will see how you like your new map on the Shell 93 before i move to that map.

^^^ The stock downpipe sucks.

Only one way to find out and that is to make the change and log it.

SC, do you have a log from before that map to see what increases were made where?
