EvoScan and check engine lights

A few days after doing my TBE (catless), MBC, fuel pump and eflash I got a check engine light. I figured it was the o2 sensor code because of not having a cat. Today (about a week later) I finally used EvoScan to pull the codes but it didn't find any. I tried like 10 times and about half of the times it would get an error (timeout errors some of the times, other times it said something like "cable not responding"). Other times it wouldn't get an error it would just say "no DTCs found". Hitting the button to clear the codes was hit or miss too, sometimes it would produce those same errors, sometimes it wouldn't do anything. Anyway, the bottom line is I never got a code and I still have the check engine light on. I have the tactrix cable and I have never had any other problems using EcuFlash or doing normal logging through EvoScan. Is there a better software package for checking/clearing codes?

Thanks!

Autozone or Advance Auto work like a champ. LOL

Actually if you look in the ECU Flash section of the forum I believe there is a software that is available to check and clear codes. Malibu Jack has one as well I believe.

EvoScan DTCs works perfectly for the Evo IV/V/VI, and pre '98 mitsubishis, it just doesn't work for the US evos. Use any generic obdII scantool that supports direct passthrough (jeffs serial converter) like scantech.

Can you prevent codes from returning, like the (no cat) cel?
