I just want to note my experience with this.

At first I transfered all my rom data to the 015 rom file posted and edited my xml file with the posted patch. I tried the following settings for the knock/cel:

Flash CEL on Knock: 3
Knocksum Required for CEL: 3
Min Load for CEL on Knock: 100 (same as the posted rom)
CEL on Knock flash time: 4000 ms

I flashed the ECU and I did NOT get the ~8 minutes of continuously flashing CEL light.

So I went back and re-set the KnockSum CEL Required to 1 (as in the posted rom) and the CEL on Knock flash time to 3431 ms and flashed again. That WORKED and gave me the ~8 minute flashing CEL before it stopped.

My Question is: How can I change the Knock flash time? I would like to have it longer than 3.4 seconds. I would like it to be @ 5 seconds.

You change the duration of the CEL flashing with the flash time parameter. It is in ms, so 1000ms = 1s and so on. So, for 5 seconds, you would use 5000ms.

As I noted above I tried setting it to 4000ms and then flashed the ECU but I did not get the ~8 minutes of flashing CEL. The reason could be that I set the the Load CEL Required for Knock to 3 @ the same time. I will try it again by only setting the CEL duration 5000s and see if it works.

So you just download and flash those pre-patched ROMs onto your ECU?

96940011 Can't seem to get it to work.

Added the Information from the XMl to my existing one at the end. It appreard on my Rom, the 4 tables. Changed them and nothing would happen.

The scaling for knock uses units...does 1 mean acutally 1 knock?

Did you actually use the patched ROM or just the new XML definitions? Using the new XML definitions without a patched ROM is useless.

I was one of the first testers and tested 96940011. It works fine.

"The additional xml is only relevant when opening the patched ROM."

Can someone post a step by step?

For as much as I love this mod because its similar to the UTEC feature.. I always had a problem even seeing the CEL light flashing at any time besides when it was really dark out. Just keep that in mind if you tune during the daylight hours.

1. Add provided definitions to your xml definitions file, found in ecuflash directory.
2. Open provided patched file with ecuflash.
3. Open your own flash file (.bin or .hex from your car) with ecuflash
4. Transfer all data from all tables from your flash into the patched flash.
5. Upload the patched file into your ecu.

hehe - me thinks your confused:

1) Flash CEL on Knock is a general ENABLE OR DISABLE feature, ie 0 = dont enable the cel flashing routine, 1 = enable it...

2) This 8 mins thing is only relevent when you FIRST FLASH... you may NOT get it...

3) Just change the flash time to whatever you want, when the load/knock conditions are met the CEL lamp will flash for that amount of time.. its like this so you NOTICE the knock rather than missing it...

hth

Yep which is why I had the trailing flashing time... Its not too bad where I live... but on a really sunny day it could be a problem...

Isn't there a way we can do the mod by adding the patch to existing ROM like the other patches/mods?

For those of use who have a few ;-) changes it would be a little tedious to remake all of the existing changes.

Of course - anything is possible

BUT there is quite a lot of room for error with patching - especially manual patching...

I guess you need to weigh up which is worse, the effort involved in migrating your settings or the affect of bad code on the engine

I guess I could do some one-off's if people want to make a donation /me rattles tin .. :P
