Quick question...Which light is the CEL light? Is it the "Service Engine Soon" (on the left) light? Or is it on the right, in the "Lancer" guage? Ive replaced my "Lancer" gauge with my voltmeter, and wondering if I can still do this mod.

It's the SES light, formerly known as the Check Engine Light (CEL).

I'm assuming I can just change the values using Set Value e.g., 0x1 for "Flash CEL on Knock?" Right?

Didn't get a chance to test the CEL function but did find some differences in the stock ROM and the patched ROM at various addresses...just interested in what is "patched." Not that I know what any of this means...just trying to see what it is I'm uploading to the ECU.

If your interested in known what was patched and how it works get IdaPra...

Basically I insert a hook in the IO_Setup route (controls LED's + relays), then do my load/knock check then update the CEL memory address with on/off for the flashing bit...

Just a note while we're testing this patch...but after uploading the patched ROM, I could no longer log w/EVOscan...EVOscan would engage but wouldn't log any data...I tried uninstalling/reinstalling EVOscan but still had the same result...after removing XML code an uploading my original ROM, I was able to log again. I can only suspect that I must have done something wrong w/the patched ROM--although it seemed to work upon my first few runs...I've got intermitent spikes of > 3 knock at upwards of 5900+ RPM under load.

I'm going to try the patch again and see what I get...

ROM ID 88590015

Of course, you're correct, removing the xml code that informs what ECUflash displays/reads wouldn't have any effect--or shouldn't, right...but, for troubleshooting, I eliminated any extra data that was getting uploaded to the ECU--and, of course, these extra line were present after reflashing without the "patched" ROM. As it turns out, EVOscan worked after I reflashed without the patched ROM...even though the patched ROM worked, I'm assuming I did something incorrect which prevented me from loggin data w/EVOscan.
