Reading/logging 2-byte load.

Well finally got around to setting up my 2-byte load and was wondering a couple things. There are a whole new set of options to log and I was wondering what people were selecting when switching to 2-byte. Also what are you not using from before?

Also I keep reading people saying by logging in 2-byte they can tell exactly what cell to change but how do you do this? From what I see it logs the same as before only more accurate. You still have a range of cells it could effect though.

I am kind of lost here for a sec. What do you mean by a whole new options to log?

You tune the load cells the same as before. 2byte is what the ecu goes by. The load calc was just a calulation the 2byte is actual load.

Well theres Load Calculated which you use before the 2 byte then theres ECULoad, Load MUT 2byte Mod, RPM MUT 2byte Mod, E1 RAM 1byte Mod, and E4 Ram 2byte Mod. What are all the other ones for? I just used Load MUT 2byte Mod, should I be using any of the others?

Oh OK I dont know what the E1 RAM 1byte Mod, and E4 Ram 2byte Mod are. I have never seen or heard anyone using those. The RPM MUT 2byte Mod would be 2 byte rpm. I believe there is a post floating around to add that to your rom. I haven't done the 2 byte rpm

What's the benefit of using 2-byte RPM?

And to NIevo, if you want to control boost through the ECU then there are mods you should do for that. Also if you want to log boost through a JDM MAP sensor.

The links to do those are here,

The 2-byte RPM mod gives real RPM feedback instead of the stepped ~32 RPM intervals you log normally. The only real benefit comes when you use calculations based on RPM, such as HP/TQ. It makes these calculations more accurate.

You can add IDC to that. Where do I get info on how to do the 2-byte rpm?

I haven't found it for the IX. I need it myself.

I was looking around for the RPM 2-byte for the 8 as well but haven't had any luck...I guess I'll check again.

In this thread, at post #40, it looks like Mr. Evo IX gives the addresses for 2-byte RPM for the IX. Worth a shot.

For the VIII, if you have a 2005, this post in this thread should help you get 2-byte RPM set up. If you have a 2003-2004, I'm afraid I have no idea.

Thanks Tom for the info...I do have an '03. I guess it's not that big of a deal since I feel that 2-byte load is more important.

Thanks for the link! Actually, I remember seeing this. I've got the v.15 ROM that isn't listed so I never tried it. I've since set up my 2-byte airflow and am using the 2-byte RPM addresses for the airflow. I know it's not as useful. I might try the RPM mod later.

If anyone gets these values working on the v.15 IX ROM, please post and verify.
