How To Tune an Evo
need reflash map
i have evrything to do a reflash looking for a good program...anyone have one ???doing a 2004 evo8........if anyone has any help send downloads to will-vipperformance@hotmail.com
i wouldnt even know where to begin in tuning that...you realize that tranny is gunna be shot in no time right?...like...destroyed, it may be better for you to leave the boost low
I know someone mentioned before, but what about tips for tuning at idle? I know there is a big thread out there about the Stepper Table and throttle hang, so I suppose I could read that one too.
I'm having an issue right now with my throttle hanging at 4K only after a WOT run. It will hang there until I shift to a higher gear and make the car drop the RPMs. Once it hits 3500 it falls off like normal. To spare a very long post, I've tested almost everything I can think of mechanical that could cause it. (throttle cable, throttle body, TPS, IAC, vac. leak, etc.) The only thing that made this go away was disconnecting the harness to the IAC. I read this thread in hopes that I would run across something that could help me. I didn't think I did until today.
Now I don't know what the stepper table looks like (and I suppose I should read that other thread...) but my problem happened after it was retuned after adding the cams and LICP. With those mods, I assume I would move further to the right as the engine load would go up, correct? Is it possible that the steps in those cells could be causing this? On a scanner the only thing that reads out of the ordinary is the steps. They hold at about 160. TPS shows 0, and I've verified it by actually looking at the TB to make sure it's closed. I've switched IACs with someone else, and the problem didn't go away with the other one. Only having it unplugged fixed the problem. I don't know exactly how the idle/stepper table deal works, so I was reading this thread to try to figure it out.
I'm waiting to get my laptop back from my friend, so I can't provide any logs at this time
I did have my tuner email me my current .hex file, so I could forward it to someone so they could see what it looked like. If someone is willing to help me, send me a PM with your email address and I'll have it on the way!
Sorry for the long post sort of off topic
An idle section to the first post(s) would be great. Something to help for those of us who add cams. I've noticed there are seperate idle table for with and without the A/C running. I idle great with the A/C off, but with the A/C on it bounces between 1000 RPM and 2000 RPM...I need to work on that!
Great read though. Spread it out over last night, today at work and this evening and I'm sure I'll be going through a majority of it again!
