Could somebody take a look at this log? I just started learning to tune, the first thing I did was paste ignition table #2 into the #1 and #3 tables for consistency. Oh and I'm on 91 octane, evo 9.

I tinkered with the timing advance around 6k RPM and 200+ load and fixed my knock problems up there, but I'm still struggling with a knock pattern around 2500-3500 RPM between 90 and 140 load. I attached a log of one of the worst instances

The pattern isn't 100% consistent, but it's guaranteed to happen at least once every time I take the car out for a drive. I also noticed that the ECU isn't modifying the octane level during the knock, which is a little puzzling to me?

I tried pulling the timing in the offending timing cells by 2-3 and their surrounding cells by 1-2, but I'm not seeing much progress. Should I continue to pull timing? Maybe it's my imagination but when I hit those cells while I'm driving, the car feels considerably weaker and I don't want to keep pulling timing if there's possibly another culprit responsible for the knock readings.

Edit: Here's the entire log from the 15 minute drive, where you can see several occurrences with some more context:

Is yours an 8 or 9? I'd try smoothing out the 6 degree drop from 120 to 140 load at 2500 and anywhere else there is a similar change.

Ah right, sorry, it's a 9. I'll try that out, thanks

The ECU only starts decrementing the octane flag when knocksum is >= 7.

Seems like you are doing normal driving through this area of the map.
It could be a unrelated issue, however you can also try to BLOCK an entire area with a constant timing number.
Normally at mild load, and that rev range most engines will accept 15-18 degrees of timing no problem. This could help you find a solution.
If nothing works, than 1 count maybe some strange phantom knock and you can put your map back to normal.

Thanks GTijoejoe. And yeah, it's always during normal driving. I don't see much if any knock when doing full pulls.

I spent most of the day progressively lowering the entire region by a cumulative -10 or so. I'm seeing somewhat less knock, though there are still the occasional strings of 4-6 rows adjacent of 1 or 2 knocksum. Is it typical to see one or even some of those?

If it's more or less normal then I'll start slowly returning the timing advance to what it was. The car is so unresponsive between 2000-3500 at 80-140 load, I would love to get some power back in that area.

I don't normally have knock during normal driving, like ever.
Sometimes you can get knock from on/off throttle or revving in neutral.... strange transitions like that.

I find your last comment odd, unresponsive. Basically there isn't much power @2k by comparison, but the car shouldn't feel weak or dead.... as you elevate above 3k normally your power band is about to sky rocket in this area based on throttle input.

What is the health of the motor?
Full boost leak check?
Make sure everything about the motor is where it should be before tuning.
(I'm unaware if you did those types of things)

Make sure your knock sensor is plugged in. If its not, it will cause the ECU to constantly detect knock

That ignition timing should not be causing knock at those load levels

If reducing the timing is not working then I would adjust the knock threshold table. Many cars seem to be sensitive in the 2500 to 3000 rpm range.

What boost level are you seeing? Your load seems a bit high for the tps/rpm conditions but you might have a stock turbo.

timing and fuel map

Hi guys, what do you think of that,
on evo 9, running 25lbs boost and 280 of load.
I put timing map and the fuel,
I always get a rich afr for a moment when I go full throttle?
does AFR and timing seems good?
Thanks

Your AFR at peak boost is a bit leaner than I tune. But, I'm not an expert tuner. Just bumping the thread!

This is my timing off of my 2014 Evo X E85. Any thoughts on how healthy or unhealthy this is?

Nagua - don't run this map! You will destroy your engine.
It is 20* too far advanced for any kind of boost on E85.

Can you explain a little more? This is a tune from the top tuner here in Dallas.
Side note: My engine just let loose on 5/8/15
